well i mean when you go into the store and buy something its up to you to know what you need so you buy the correct thing. you cant just walk up grab the first thing you see not read and expect it to the the right thing lol

finding a rom is like getting a product in a store. you go in you brows you find one thats compatible for what your doing and will work for you. and then you get said rom.

WOW ~ First time posting in any forum to help, last time too. Not everyone lives and breathes this stuff, for some it is just a passion that obviously you would like to squash. Sorry for the informality.

There are many people who put a lot of hard work in creating these ROMs, hacks, apps, tweaks, etc. The site itself costs money to run. You should be happy that a resource like this actually exists rather than criticize it so childishly.

Anyhow, I wouldn't mind seeing sub forums in the upgrades section for GSM and CDMA with carrier lists or perhaps a little FAQ thread clarifying how to figure out whether you're GSM or CDMA.

i don't think that any 'rule' is neccessary, people should just label things specifically. CDMA devices might have a bigger presence here, but it's irrelevant.

you expect help with an attitude like that? all im asking is if your coming to the site read a lil first. it goes a LONG way. it saves you from bricking your device WHICH i might add would be your own fault for jumping into the pit with out knowing what your getting your self into. not everything in life comes on a platter my friend. contrary to some beliefs. this website and many others like it are mostly a self serve thing. not much is served here on a platter. its just to difficult. we do ask you at least show some interest and get some back ground info on the device you have in your hand at lease geeeeesh....

If you read the How to Flash thread, since you are new to this, you'll see:

THIS IS FOR CDMA DIAMONDS ONLY. IF YOU DO NOT HAVE A TELUS OR SPRINT DIAMOND, DON'T DO THIS!

I have read the posts, and I am an experimenter. I am eager to learn, and willing to help those with more knowledge than I. However, bashing anyone for an attempt at furthering their knowledge in maximizing their phone's functions to its full potential, should not feel degraded for lack of knowledge. I appreciate everything that someone with more knowledge than I shares.

I at no time have insulted you, nor intended to, so I apologize if my words were recieved poorly.
I only want to state that there is a lot of information already available if people take the time to read it. Tutorials are hard to write, and take a long time to make what may seem trivial to some, easy for others to understand. This is especially true for flashing.
Logically I'd want to know what formatting my computer would do to all of my files before I do it... the same should be said for my phone. If you want to install linux on your pc, you should make sure that it is compatible with your hardware, no?

There are many members here who try their best to help everyone they can, and at some point a good majority get annoyed with repeated questions, and then they get responses such as "use the search button" or the thread ends up as a "pissing match" but if your question is worded well, with as much relevant information as you think possible and you really have tried all other options (ie: your answer isn't the first search response) then you might find that you get nice replies from people willing to help.
