How do you get rid of that stupid box above keyboard in texting?

With such precious little real estate in texting I want to read my texts above and start texting on the keyboard, but this black box that shows me what I have texted is blocking the message I am wanting to read. I have unchecked everything on the menu but it is covering up what I am wanting to see. I do not need help showing what I am texting. It is a waste of real estate. What do I need to do or hack I need to do to get rid of this?????

Hit the enter button on the keyboard before you hit send and the bar will disappear for you!

good info to know. what about making the text smaller? I cant find a way to do this. Its much larger than it was on my Touch.
