Possible to remove Opera and make IE the default browser?
 

Call me crazy but I like PIE over any other browser. I'd like to completely remove the Opera browser or at least make PIE the default browser. Also, it would be cool if the tab for the internet could be made to point to PIE.

Opera is in rom you cant remove it. its also embedded into a tf3d tab.

you could probably change default browser in the reg tho.

id suggest you try opera again tho. you'll realize that IE is a waste of space :)

While I can't remember at the moment, it is matter of simple registry changes to make PIE the default browser. Perhaps search for "registry", "default", and "browser". Opera is good at certain pages, PIE does have its advantages.

One thing I haven't been able to find is how to import/export/backup Opera bookmarks. With PIE, they are just bunch of URLs that can be extracted.

I will look for those registry entries when I have time. If you find them first, please post here.

Try this, it should make PIE as the default browser:

HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Shell\Rai\:DEFBROWSER\

Value 0="Pocket IE"
Value 1="\Windows\iexplore.exe"

I'm sorry this isn't helpful, but I just want to say I am in holy-sh*t surprised mode right now, because I've never met anyone who likes PIE over ANY other browser in WM. lol

look over at xda for darkness321 cab that will atleast make ie default...as far as remapping the tf3d ive been trying to do that myself from day 1...hope that helps

I prefer PIE over opera and skyfire. I have the other two installed on my device only because there are a few sites (like my bank) that I can't access using PIE or won't format correctly.

I think you would be surprised at the amount of people who prefer PIE.

Hey all

Been trying to eliminate Opera from default from the Manila/TF interface and curious if anyone here has a copy of IExplore.exe from WM? should be approx 16K in size

Tested this with Skyfire browser and the rename trick works but cant find just IExplore.exe anywhere here or on the net and to rename and place in the \windows folder

Anyone with this and would be willing to share it would have neverending gratitude from me (well at least until I hit the thanks button that is LOL)

I prefer PIE over Opera on the diamond...I have such a bad experience..probably just because I'm not used to it..

Does anyone have the registry value for the setting opera as the default browser...I uninstalled some other browser (opera mini) and the uninstallation went and made PIE the default browser (argh!)

for those that want IE as the browser for Manila/Touchflo - here ya go

simply fix and still allows for Opera, Skyfire whatever to be on there and used as well, just replaces Opera in the interface with whichever of the others you prefer

ok guys question, i have tcpmp and i want it to open using ie instead of opera by default, i still want opera as my default internet program, but i just want the tcpmp video sites to open with ie, is this possible?

truthfully I dont think so - TCPMP just sends the request for a page to open to the system and the system default is going to be either IE, Opera or Skyfire or even MiniMO but its set by default within the system and you the user.

Im doubting that TCPMP has any registry calls that can be altered but Ill check and see just to be certain.

There is always media streamer available for opening a page and streaming media though it but Im not thinking thats a fix for your needs is it?

tried this program on my touch pro. no difference. when i select the internet icon on my pro, it still selects the opera as the browser to open. any insight?

I'll give you 2 good reasons to use IE rather than Opera.
1. Bank of America does not support mobile banking on Opera. I do a lot of mobile banking.
2. Opera can't seem to load Google Maps. I get lost a lot.

I use Bank of America in Opera almost every day, and i just downloaded that crazy google maps application to my phone. I know thats insane, but i just works better than the website ;)
