Increase screen sensitivity??

I would like to mod the screen sensitivity much like the common vogue edit. I want to be able to scroll using the tip of the stylus or my fingernail to flick though menus and what not.

Re: Increase screen sensitivity??

Yah the sensitivity is good on Touch.. on Diamond I cannot scroll through some of the windows easily w/ my finger anymore.

Re: Increase screen sensitivity??

Agreed. I have a hard time scrolling on this one. Maybe we had it better than we thought with the Touch???

Maybe... I really hope someone can figure this one out. It slows way too slow and I hate that I can't use my stylus tip to scroll.

Re: Increase screen sensitivity??

Search for a program named Diamond Tweak 0.5, it's on the Telus Diamond thread in this forum. It will fix your problem with the sensitivity! I was having the same problem you have, and now it's like butter! It's even better than my old Touch. I don't know why Sprint made it so hard to scroll around? Install that program and set your sensitivity to "intermediate" or "High" and you will be totally impressed with your Diamond!

I set it to very high and only noticed a marginal improvement at best. Now I have been playing with the registry for a while so I'm going to hard reset and try once more.

It's better than stock, that's for sure. Still doesn't seem as smooth as the Touch to me, but it is better...

Thanks

Dan, nice to see you back on and nice to see you have joined the diamond team. I laoded the Tweaks and it worked pretty well for me as well as I also used the flip clock (worked great) next thing to try will be the TF3DConfig. We will see what happens from here.

Re: Increase screen sensitivity??

DHarvey, I didn't do any hacks other than the BT stereo thing before I installed the tweaks. I set my sensitivity to Intermediate, and the Finger Pressure to Intermediate. After rebooting, it was night and day for me. It works just as well as the iPhone. It's very smooth and easy to navigate around without ANY stutter. I'm wondering if it got better for you after a hard reset?

Also, I tried some of the memory tweaks from that program and I had some lock ups. So I would recommend not using any of those right now.

Re: Increase screen sensitivity??

I actually did have to hard reset and then installed the tweaks and it seems better. Still nowhere as sensitive as the Vogue when it comes to scrolling though menus but it is much better.

Yes I have. It didn't do anything positive at all.

I have mine at 300, seems to be pretty good that point. Definitely MUCH better than stock.

I set mine at 4000, and I have no complaints.

I have found the sensitivity is improving over time. I do not know if it is the screen breaking in through usage or what, but I am not complaining.

Re: Increase screen sensitivity??

Seems like HTC tried to make a hybrid between a "stylus" responsive screen and a "finger tip" responsive screen. Anyone know the "technology" behind their effort?

1) Is it a physical issue with the screen? I understand that the Diamond screen is resistive, rather than capacitive like the iPhone, but did they do something with the actual screen to enhance the responsiveness to the fingertip? It seems like there is a thicker glass-like material on the screen, rather than a softer screen like on the Palm Centro for example (the Centro is much more responsive to the stylus in my opinion).

2) Or is it purely a ROM issue that can be altered, at least in part, as discussed in this post?

3) Or a combo of both # 1 and # 2.

The Diamond is laminated glass with plastic...the Mogul, Touch, Treos don't use any glass at all. That's probably why it feels more stiff.

FWIW, fingernails don't register on capacitive screens.

I don't have a problem finger scrolling in the middle, but to scroll using the bar on the right, I have to use my fingernail. Is that the same for everyone? on my touch I could use the scroll bar using my fingertip with no problem.

rainfreak 10-03-2008 12:23 PM

Re: Increase screen sensitivity??

I can use just my finger tip and it works fine for me.

I went to that registry entry and it was already set at 40866. I'm serious. Am in looking at the wrong thing?

I went to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\TouchPanel\PressureThre shold and there it was 40866.

I must be doing something wrong.

That's really weird.. seems impossible to me. Double check where you're looking one more time. Try changing it something between 240 and 300 and make sure it's set to Decimal. Save and reset and see if it makes a difference.

Re: Increase screen sensitivity??

In Diamond Tweak there are 3 different sensitivity settings: Sensitivity; finger pressure; and graphic fluidity. What do they do and what is the difference between sensitivity and finger pressure.

ocbizlaw 10-04-2008 05:03 PM

Re: Increase screen sensitivity??

Definitely HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\TouchPanel\PressureThre shold 40866. I'll change it and see what happens.

ocbizlaw 10-04-2008 05:51 PM

Re: Increase screen sensitivity??

Okay, I set it to 300 but here's the deal. I was using Diamond Tweak. I set it to 300 with the reg. editor then rebooted and it wasn't as good so I used Diamond Tweak and set it back to to "very high" which set the registry entry back to 40866. Default entry using Diamond Tweak was something like 18000 or 19000.

Mine is set to 44. I have the Juicy 2.5 ROM.

What's the "stock" value for this key? Does increasing it increase or decrease the sensitivity?

I changed mine from 44 to 300 and can't tell if it got more or less sensitive.
