I'd rather have a working phone.

well i have a feeling that it will have its issues just like every WM device out there.

lucky for us we have this baby unlocked already so we can fix them our self because it wont happy very quickly from sprint, telus or verizon.

Okay not beat up a point. I spoke with my Sprint Rep (I manage a few hundred Sprint/Nextel Phones) and she has always been straight with me and given me dates on phones when I can't get them anywhere else.

Hi Troy

For the Diamond, I did not get a firm date, just this month. I do have a website where you can sign up to receive an email notifying you when it becomes available. http://www.sprint.com/htcdiamond

I am working with my supervisor to get a timeframe for the new Blackberries with Direct Connect. I will keep you updated.

Thank you,

From where I am sitting any date you get at this point is just a guess. While frustrating to those of us who are willing to deal with "glitches" waiting is probably a smart idea on Sprint's part since most users would complain and then return a phone that has "glitches".

yep as off right now sprint is standing with no official date at this point, and I agree waiting sucks but should bring you a better product.

I very much doubt it will be "broke". I will take a phone now with some issues that can be resolved with a ROM update. It is not like the interface hasn't been out all summer for GSM, and not like there isn't a working Telus version out there. Maybe sprint should quite messing with a good thing and changing the interface or there bogus programs to screw up the phone lol.... I want the phone, bugs and all as soon as possible. But again I know what I want and what Sprint does are two totally seperate items.

I signed up for the Telus notification on the Touch Diamond... Got the notification that they were available 2 weeks after I picked mine up. Thanks a bunch, Telus... :)

With regards to the delays and stuff, one story I heard (more rumours, yay!) about the Telus launch fiasco was that it wasn't Telus screwing around with dates, but HTC delivery issues. Even the day before the phone was available in stores, we didn't know when it was going to be out "for sure". And then some stores got a few units, other stores got units a week later, etc. Delivery really seemed to be a problem. I would imagine a US launch would be even more problematic, given the number of locations/phones to get out.

Not bad considering the wait and the cost for those that can't "upgrade".. I am sure there will be more posted soon enough. This one ended Sep-03-08 20:21:56 PDT w/BIN..

i knew when it was delivered :P i got a girl on the inside and she called me as soon as the box arrived with there units in them. i got to play with them a full week before they were released for sale hehehe she wouldn't sell me one then though... something about losing her job and breaching her contract agreement with telus.

There's something major enough to delay the launch. Sprint doesn't just delay phones because they want to or anything.

sprint prolly just wants to make sure thattheir crapware is working properly... not taking into consideration that most of us dont use their junk...but theyneed to "brand" their phones for their company...

just my thought

Sprint told me the Touch Diamond will ship in mid-September but the the Touch Pro (the one with the keyboard) was now targeted for the end of October.
