nuePowerDriver battery dll for Diamond (1%)

Ok,

The 1% battery driver for the Diamond is done. Download at http://www.nuerom.com/BlogEngine/page/nuePower.aspx , Install and restart.

Please link to the page, and avoid hosting mirrors so people always get the latest version... Thanks!

Special thanks to Ghettofreeryder for testing it out, and to cmonex for locating the rounding function =)

i too installed it and now my batter icon does not work and it says the battery is always dead in the setting control panel.

Re: nuePowerDriver battery dll for Diamond (1%)

well my battery isn't dead, its still showing 100% so hrmph

mind you i'm using this in conjunction with the PK Battery which shows the battery plus a small % on top of the battery

could this be why?

Well, you need a control panel that can at least show the percent in numbers, as I understand, the default diamond control panel does not do this.

You could try my cpl, or some other program...

That makes sense. Does your control panel have the "Auto adjust backlight" and "Dim the backlight if the device is locked" options? I don't know how I'd get the old control panel back if I overwrote it with yours (other than doing an hard reset), so I'm asking in advance. :)

Actually, I think you'd have to turn off your old control panel manually. I'll look into adding those options though.

No it doesnt have autodim or the other setting. I also have an issue now, where on the todayu screen, the battery indicator onyl stays at what the battery was when the OS first booted

Interesting... Mine is also doing that. And here I thought I was just having a good battery day! :)

so if this isn't working as a standalone install, this must mean the new rom posted today probably isn't even working properly... :(

darn!

I can send you screen shots of the three tabs in the power control panel, if you like...

For my rom, its works in the cpl, and if you do a VC "What is my battery level?" it works, just not the today screen indicator

Just tried your control panel, and it shows up there fine (and doesn't over-write the old one). I like the charging/discharging values as well!

EDIT: Just playing around with a couple things... Normal (no WiFi/BlueTooth, but regular phone on, with data), I get 275 mA discharge. Turning on BlueTooth & WiFi, it goes up to 500 mA. For charging, I got ~425 mA out of my USB port on my laptop, while getting 800 mA on a 1A USB charger. So if I've got WiFi & BlueTooth turned on and it's plugged into my laptop, it will eventually drain the battery, as the charging isn't keeping up with the discharge.

MightyMike 09-03-2008 03:52 PM

Re: nuePowerDriver battery dll for Diamond (1%)

I don't believe it's anything with your ROM, as I'm using the stock ROM still, and my Today battery icon wasn't changing either.

yeah, i have no clue why it does that...

one question though -> does the temperature of your device show up properly??

It does if it's always 30 degrees... :) And considering the thermostat here is set to 21, I don't think that's the case. I've had a reading of 30 since I installed it. I can check later with the diagnostic apps that were on xda to see if it's my phone that has the incorrect values, or the control panel.

Hey, would you share how you built the control panel? Or is that proprietary knowledge?

A lot of disassembly and hard work? =p It is built in C++, and is pure Win32 API =)

Has anyone else experienced a change in battery life after installing these pieces (control panel and driver)?

i dont have the control panel installed just the driver on my rom.

Re: nuePowerDriver battery dll for Diamond (1%)

no2chem, just as an FYI on the temp... In the Debug Tools -> Battery, I see the temperature changing, +/- about 2 degrees, in 0.1 increments. But it says the temperature is 311.5 C, which I'm pretty sure is incorrect. :)

EDIT: Ah, the lightbulb went on... I bet if you're just dividing that temp by 10, and rounding off. That would give a pretty solid 30 or so.

it seems to drain it a bit quicker then before yes.

Re: nuePowerDriver battery dll for Diamond (1%)

Clint, I presume that you see a faster drain since the 1% driver? I also assume that it is not due to the perception created by the 1% rather than 10%?

For anyone else who has installed the 1%, what is your experience?

Thanks.

Sorry, can't help much anymore. I've been using Juicy's ROM for awhile now, so I have no idea what my original battery life was. :)
