I am not like most that run and jump on the bandwagon for the newest and latest products. I tend to sit back and absorb what others are saying before i decide to purchase a gadget. i kept hearing all the talk about the anticipated release of the Touch Diamond and saw all the threads here at PPC Geeks and other forums..and I have to tell you I was getting a lil sick of all the Touch Diamond talk just as I got early burnout when the Iphone landed on earth.lol Today something sparked an interest in me about this gadget and I went to HTC's website and reviewed the entire device and I have to tell you

4Gb of Internsal Memory
256mb ROM
192mb RAM
2 Cameras @ 3.2 pixels
GPS & A-GPS
Bluetooth
Wifi

All i need to know if the device supports tethering and Sprint just simply need to tell me where to sign on the dotted line for my renewed contract.

I must say I am completedly blown away with this device.

I mean, I might be wrong but I just checked their plans online, for some reason all of them say
Phone as modem or tethering: not included.
I'm still kinda new here, so I don't know the answer to your other question about that third party application.
EDIT: Just went to WMWifiRouter.com, it seems really cool and I don't see why it shouldn't work, might wanna try out the trial first, just in case!

Not included only means that its not included in any plan, you have to buy a PAM service for it but you can do it as an addon at additional cost from Sprint.

I see, sorry then for the confusion, how much does Sprints PAM service cost? If its lower than WMWifiRouter ill get it, unless it's monthly,

The CDMA version has more RAM than that...and half the cameras.
