I wonder if Sprint is gonna push this thing via ads & stuff. I don't remember them pushing the Touch that much.

ok, so i called evp and got some answers to my questions:

it's not direct ship. you won't receive it on 9/14, but rather 24-48 hrs later.

it's $249 AFTER the MIR. no further discount on the phone (i thought we got add'l discounts on phones...)

buying the phone WON'T alter the current contract you have. you may choose a different plan if you wish. i didn't bother to ask about sero...i've been trying to get on one for over a yr and i'm still bitter. sorry.

so...i'm just gonna wait a little while longer to see if it comes out in-store on the 14th. i've waited long enough, i don't wanna go 48 hrs when i know ppl already have them!
