I recently purchased the 800w from sprint through telesales and was not happy with the device so I am now returning it. I wrote a email to e-care to find out the progress of my return kit and to see if I could set up a pre-order for the diamond and this is what they responded with.

Thank you for contacting Sprint. I understand your concern regarding
the return kit for the phone Treo 800W and the phone HTC Touch Diamond.

An order for the return kit for the phone Treo 800 W has been placed on
August 08, 2008.

I am sorry for the inconvenience caused to you as the return kit has not
been delivered to you.

I have placed an order for the return kit again on your account for the
phone Treo 800W and the return kit will be delivered to you within 3 to
5 business days.

Once the phone Treo 800W is received at the warehouse, necessary
adjustment will be applied on your account.

Further, the scheduled launch date of HTC Touch Diamond is September 02,
2008. Currently, there is no information available for the pre-order of
the phone.

it did not have a expansion slot from the beginning, so Sprint is in the clear on that one.

wow burgandy!! i guess we shouldnt complain atleast were getting the phone. i jus hope the touch pro is silver if they change it.

There were rumors from the beginning about a burgundy back on the Sprint version. Unfortunately, if it comes out like that, it looks worse than I imagined. Why keep the glossy black front and put something like that on back? Ruins the whole thing. Hopefully the production units don't look like that.

Darn. Yeah that is deifnitely what I saw on the Sprint one I touched also. I was actually hoping it was just because it hadn't been released yet and maybe not super official. I guess not =(
