Re: Touch Diamond release date!

I plan on picking mine up the day it's out. I was told by the owner of a local dealer it would be the 14th, plus or minus a day.

Re: Touch Diamond release date!

Hate to burst everybody's bubble, but it's now August 12th. Don't you think we would have at least heard something from Sprint by now? Anyway, my Sprint rep at work texted me this morning to notify me that the Diamond will launch October 19th. I've been bugging him about it for months now.

Don't know if you're talking to me still or what, but the latest story is that some stores might have limited stock on the 14th, everyone should have some by the 19th. I'm just down the street from the store, and I'm usually in the office by 7 or so, so I'll probably take a little coffee break and mosey on down.

Can't promise any pictures until I get home, but I'm sure I'll have some the evening I get it.

Clint.

Battery life?

I read that the GSM version's battery life is not so great, so I expect worse from GSM.

I'm using a 1500mAH battery with my Touch from Seido, and see that they have a 1000mAH battery for the Diamond. Based on that, I'm guessing that the Diamond will be a poor-batter performer.

Is it going to be another device with horrible battery life?

Re: Touch Diamond release date!

I just had a chance to play around with the Sprint version for a while. I'm certainly not a heavy user in terms of what everyone else here likely uses their phone for.

I mostly use it for the WM capabilities (work), web browsing, gps.

For these reasons I will likely keep my Touch/Vogue and not shell out the extra ~$150 for this ($250 - $100 I would get back from the Touch).

I don't care for the shell they put over WM although very catchy just not for me (although I'm sure all you will make your own =] ). The screen brightness in sunlight as I expected is pretty much the same as the Vogue (with the "bad screen"). The screen is very nice to look at and definitely does not have a squishy feel like the Vogue but a stiff feel more similiar to the Mogul.

The circular zoom feature on the key pad is cool along with the auto adjust brightness.

I found that the accelerometer didn't work when I wanted it to. I much prefer the use of the camera keys function as screen rotate on the touch.

Battery is 1340 on CDMA for both devices...

Trip,

You got to play with the actual Sprint version of the Diamond?? How? Do you have any inside info you can share with us? Release date maybe?

I work at Sprint. No... Sorry, I do not have any additional information regarding release dates. My guess is as good as yours. I'm still thinking the 2nd.
