WM Torrenting Program

As this device has WiFi, some of us might want to torrent files onto its 4GB RAM, does anyone know of a nice, free torrenting program that works on WM 6.1?

Why would you want to torrent off a EVDO connection? Especially when almost every carrier has caps? Torrent from home, its less work.

Did you even bother to READ his post at all?

He said he wanted to do it over WiFi.

nope, the whole concept seemed incredibly stupid to me. And it still does over wifi as well. Then again, my average torrent file is 8GB + 100MB sample, so that could have something to do with it.

And I have better things to do with 4GB of flash than store torrents on it.

Average TV Show:
22 mins: 175MB
44 mins: 350MB

That's about 15 shows I can dl to my touch as I sit in class. Why not?

Also, if anyone knows of a Direct Connect program (DC++, ApexDC) for WM, that would be wonderful as well.

yes it is, and um, 'tobeychris', you might want to look at:
WinMobile Torrent. I might give it a try but I'm not that into torrenting (torrenting via wm. I mean)

I'm using the wmTorrent right now and it seems to work very well, it might be worth buying the product for $20.

First, I cant think of a torrent client out there that isnt RAM hungry. Secondly, what are you going to go for power? Are you going to keep it connected physically to a power source? Plus there are so many varibles like iso, daa, rar, ect. I agree that while it is a nice idea, its not a practical one IMO.

tobeychris 08-19-2008 12:55 PM

No, Ive got 3 75gb SCSIs, 2 SATA 500Gbs and (2) 1Tb ext ethernet Hdds. While not all of these are for torrents they get massive amounts of data written and deleted everyday to them. Keep them cool and they will live forever.

I have had WMTORRENT for some months and have NEVER gotten it to fully download a movie it allways get hung on 98 or 99 %. I tried emailing them and they HAVEN'T came up with an answer why it won't finish the last bit of the movie!!! So I don't know what to do I removed the program from my phone. I might put it back on one more time to download a tv show and see if it finish that. But my Opinion waste of my money. Seem like a cool idea but just never worked :( wish it did and I was using it on my sprint mogul for anyone wondering

Not forever but long enough
And I really wish the amount was 8-16GB. I already have a 6GB mSD card, so Im going to lose a couple gigs when I get my diamond.

Re: WM Torrenting Program

I haven't tried it in a long time (probably over a year), but I also had problems completing downloads. Even on small files.

I really wish there was still a fasttrack/gnutella2/etc client for WM. PocketG2Pro was great while it worked, but I haven't been able to get it to function in ages. Maybe it's worth digging into that again.

Re: WM Torrenting Program

I've experienced the 99% download problem and deemed it to be clients rejecting wmTorrent connections preventing the last few chunks....

Tried another torrent for the same file and it completed fine.
