Have you tried calling your carrier and asking them for help with data? You just need the appropriate server address the proper settings. I doubt it has much to do with Android. Don't tell them you are running Android though. ;) |
Re: Data problems with Android on Diam500
I believe he already stated it was cdma... do you have any prl update, provision settings or update data profile? I know on sprint that would probably fix it... and could send you the cab but doubt it would work since its not for your carrier...I am unfamiliar with cellular south...sounds like mom and pop wireless. if you flash back to stock and hard reset do you have data? have you asked your wireless provider if there is some type of soc code on your account by mistake or did you have data and then lose it all of the sudden?

Or you could navigate to your connection settings (after you let customizations run) and copy down the provisioning settings. Then install Android and then enter provisioning. :dontknow: |
Re: Data problems with Android on Diam500
isnt that what i said?

Re: Data problems with Android on Diam500

and yes make sure internet works in winmo |

Re: Data problems with Android on Diam500
i think any time you flash stock you have to reunlock before you can flash again...or is that what you did?
|
Re: Data problems with Android on Diam500
ok well good news is that i got the boot problem settled...
but i stil have no working data i am using the 2/17 build and i have the stock rom loaded, and even relocked, i did the whole apn trick but it didnt work any more ideas guys? am i the only one with this problem? |
Re: Data problems with Android on Diam500
to get working data under android you need to create an apn with the name "Internet" and APN "Android" both without quotes of course

If you are paying for a data plan they are required to help you get it working. I would do some searching on google if I were you to try to find other users that have your carrier. You could always setup everything manually using QPST but that can be dangerous and I would only do that as a last resort. Give your carrier tech support a call. |
Re: Data problems with Android on Diam500
thanks again for the help guys
and yes u do hav to unlock before flashing another rom, i have already created that apn with that name and address, stil no luck there i am actually very familiar with qpst, what information do i need? jus everything that will fill the blanks on the apn settings? if i do call the carrier, what do i ask? |
Re: Data problems with Android on Diam500
Did you add a new APN while in Android? If nt then add an APN under Settings/Wireless&Networks/Mobile Networks/APN. press the "Home" button to access the settings. Add a new APN with the "Name" as Android and "APN" as internet. Soft reset and it should work for you now.

Re: Data problems with Android on Diam500
Yes i have tried that already but it jus does nothing, says it has a connection but does not i really need some sort of help here
would loading the fearless rom help any? |
Re: Data problems with Android on Diam500
i'm in the same situation, i don't think it's anything you're doing wrong. i have a diam500 on metropcs and can't get data either. does your carrier need a proxy? that seems to be the common denominator for us who can't get data working on android 2.0.1. it looks like some users who couldn't get data working on 2.0.1 have gotten to work with 2.1, but it was unusably slow on my diam500. hopefully whatever they did for 2.1 can be worked on for 2.0.1.

Re: Data problems with Android on Diam500
one more thing, right after the boot says A N D R O I D, before the splash, it displays a message that says something about disabling modem, is this relevant?

Re: Data problems with Android on Diam500
well any data connection woulld be better than none, how did u get urs to work at all?
|
Re: Data problems with Android on Diam500
ok well i guess ill try 2.1 then where is the best build for that, i can only find one...

Re: Data problems with Android on Diam500
As everyone mentioned you need an APN "Internet" named "Android." But that should no longer be true of the latest rootfs builds and that is probably not your problem. ANYWAY, the *real* point is that you make sure your MCC & MNC are correct under Settings->Wireless & Network->Android (or 'CMDA generic', or whatever your APN is titled) and set your MCC & MNC appropriate to your carrier, if they are not. Quick google suggests: 311 & 230 or 310 & 080 might work for you.
If you're having issues, I highly suggests you pick up the latest kernel and rootfs, I fixed the double-tap in the kernel driver saturday but bzo came up with a cleaner solution that has been merged. MrPippy has changed some of the radio code (mostly for performance) and all sorts of things are changing. Sometimes better, sometimes not... Latest kernel autobuild: http://glemsom.anapnea.net/android/htc-msm-android/ (NOTE, if you've been using MrPippy's kernels you will want to add "msmvkeyb_toggle=off" into the cmdline of your Haret.exe startup.txt) Latest rootfs: http://xdandroid.southcape.org/rootfs/ My best of luck has been with the XDAndroid 3/1 release (2.0.1), there is still a lot that needs to be fixed for Donut (1.6) but we're working on it. 2.1 is pretty slow and maybe not destined to run smooth on our devices. I find 1.6 is screaming, but the bluetooth (hciattach) segfaults, and there are some (out of) memory issues and library incompatibilities since all the dev has been on eclair/2.0.1 for a while. We'll get there =) Let me know if the MCC & MNC did the trick, and remember, a lot of the guys doing the hard work and with the expertise are on #htc-linux on FreeNode. The discussion is usually around porting android/linux, but they help people out with bugs like yours a lot, so drop by if you're still stuck. Good luck! |
