Droid eris os for diamond?

Maybe im crazy, but the droid software(Google Android-Cupcake) is awesome on eris, how come no one is working on putting that software on diamond? I like winmo but would be cool to switch to that os for a change. any thoughts?

***UPDATE***
Droid OS 1.6 works awesome on Alltel/Verizon/Sprint Diamond. Very easy to do.

They are (or at least were) working on porting android to the diamond, and you can get it to boot as of now. Im not sure how much progress has been made, but I think it is somewhat usable. Go to androidonhtc.com to see. There are probably a few threads over at XDA too.

I've been following the Wave and peeking in at XDA from time to time...but the Mic not working for calls is a definite show-stopper. Getting close though!

The mic works if you make a call in WM, like to voicemail, then boot into Android. Having other problems like screen calibration not working, it says the battery is at 15% when it was full power in WM, and it crashes everytime I try to download an app at the market.
