Can I or can't I root?.....

I've got a CDMA Alltel Desire with 2.2 (the 2.2 was applied in-store, but I believe was NOT an OTA, but rather through cable)

I've been told that I CAN'T root, because of how something in the following is listed...(from the Vol - / Power button screen)

Can anyone with a + rooting experience, or expert at this procedure look at the above, and confirm if I CAN or CANNOT root, using a certain procedure? If YES, would you kindly point me to the MOST RELIABLE and EASIEST method of doing so?

I would like to root, and keep my current 2.2, if at all possible. I'm happy with the ROM, with the exception of a few factory apps that are included, that I don't use.

I have HBOOT 1.06 too and with this and Unrevoked I was able to get S-Off and ROOT. I was actually surprised it hasn't been on here yet...
