from diamond to desire

Hello everyone,

I switched to my desire about 2 week ago and i love it. But there is one thing that bother me: my data doesnt work.

With my cdma diamond, everything was working fine on a pay per use plan. Now, i never have anything in the status bar meaning that im on 3g and no data transfer.

Ive checked my apn setting, carrier is ok and network is set to wcdma/gsm auto. Ive tried selecting gsm only but then i lost everything, including cell phone antenna. It seems my phone is locked in cdma.

Im unrooted, stock 2.1 telus rom

Thanks

it has to be on wcdma as telus does not have a gsm network set up only 3G+ HSDPA You should see a "H" if your device connects to the data network properly.

weird, I don't have a H neither. I'll have to call them it seems.

Hmmm... but since I have 3G+ HSPA, does it mean I can't do the gsm unlock trick?

just called. The guy said my sim wasn't activated. Weird since my phone worked. Also, I don't know how but it seems the guy that activate my 3 years contract added the "block data" option and removed my "pay per use". Weird.

Oh well, now I have a H in top, but disabled it since I don't have any data plan. I just bought 2 desire full price, I might be able to get some free data...

Block data eh, neat ill have to use that. I have a few blackberries that they used to tell me i HAD to have a data package on.

Yeah, instead of data package or pay per use, you can request that your phone can't connect on the data network. Quite handy with children

I also went from a Diamond to a Desire, and I'm pretty much in heaven. The Diamond was always too glitchy. The Desire makes me feel like King of the World!
