so is the speaker volume and and text popup on the top of the screen addressed in mango? also how do u upgrade to mango? can someone give me a link? how do u access the registry? maybe i can try to figure out the text popup thing cause that really sucks..

does this phone come with an on screen t9 keyboard?

if ur buying the phone or getting it from sprint it should have mango preinstalled onto it. If not then u just plug it into ur computer and it'll do the rest. It has a very good on screen keyboard with word correction and completion. I don't think I even have to type half of a word before it's suggestion pops up. Because of this I usually bolt out messages almost as quickly and accurately as I would if I was using a PC. There are registry apps but the phone needs to be dev unlocked to be able to install it. Right now there's 2 ways to achieve this:

1) if u are a college student u can register for a dev account on dreamspark and then from there they will send u an email with instructions on how to unlock ur device.

2) pay $9 to chevron labs for their unlock tool.

3) flash a custom rom but there are no custom roms for the arrive yet, the HD7 has a few.

There is no T9 option but with the correction features I think I'm actually typing more efficiently than I did on my tp2 with the compact keyboard plus t9.

Seems that the XDA guys resolved the volume issue.. Now its time to find a reg edit program..

Nice, but I can't change anything in registry. Only showed: enable errors. Any ideas ?
UPD, now I can. I don't know what happen.
My friend @widdermann asked me to write on his behalf:

These values are the same...
C666C666 = 3328624230
1E = 30
A = 10
2D = 45
1111 = 4369
A decimal system.
and i need to get hack crazy fast.. cause the limit on the text of 160 sucks.. i want to be able to type as much as i want and let the phone figure out how to send it..

No good cause: The sale of tokens has been put on hold until more arrive, thanks for your patience.

Yea good luck on that 160 limit. They're all pointing fingers at each other in terms of who is responsible for fixing it. That bug is not on my HD7 however so I'm placing the blame on sprint,not sure if VZ has it as well maybe @deadwrong03,@WMFan85 or @DavidinCT can chime in on that. In the meantime just quickly hit send and keep typing.

yes i do leave my phone around.. at work it might sit on the charger, when im home on the charger when i have company.. etc.. I really dont want to spend 99 bucks on a dev account.. But it seems that it might be my only option right now to unloack this phone.. grr.. all i want to do is mod the volume.. grrr.... i guess its worth 99 bucks.. cause my phone is also my alarm clock.. i used galarm for wm6 and it seems that so much has changed since then cause even that program is restricted in wm7.

overall.. so far its been a few days with one of my own HTC arrives and i am very pleased.. There is only 2 things on my hack list and i will be 100% happy with the phone.. volume and preview..

if you remember back in the days with the TP2 it also had the same issues to overcome. esp with the sent confirmation with every text.. Grr.. We will get there soon..

Re: Upgrading from the HTC Touch Pro 2 to a HTC Aarive – Need HELP!!!

FWIW, I exceed the 160 limit for texting on the TITAN on AT&T, so I gotta agree that it's Sprint+HTC creating the limit on the Arrive.

I never had a problem using my Arrive as an alarm though... just had to remember to keep it face down. If you install the Attentive Phone app from HTC, that helps too, because it amplifies the volume when face down or "in a pocket" (aka darkness).

ok, i can deal without the USB thing.. but now i have some otherquestions...

is there a file explorer for this phone, can i set some folders to behidden?

i use to have a special pic folder that had some fun stuff in there that ididnt want to show up when some one just clicks on pics. I would rather go tothe folder and open them. in addition to that, i would like to move and changethings. can this only be done by using the zune app?

there is a photo app called Secure - free that is password protected to keep those photos in.
