I think my landscape is broken

Hi guys,

I just got my HTC Arrive and I think I am doing something wrong. How do I get it so that when I open up the contacts hub, and then open my keyboard to type a name, the screen rotates?

It seems like a lot of other things are broken in landscape too? It seems like half the time I am typing sideways

I KNOW! I KNOW! Wait for Mango! The programers and HTC Arrive forgot to rotate the screen in some landscape situations. This is common on all devices, so don't think it is a defect or that there is something wrong with your phone.

I think Mango may fix the problem.

Good luck!

my arrive rotates fine in alot of apps, just not the pictures, music + video, and the people hubs. it works in apps now if the developers enable it. landscape really isn't necessary in the people hub due to the jumplist and such. and didn't u read ur PM? its windows phone 7 NOT windows iPhone 7.

it has nothing to do with the iPhone its just that troll above thinks that wp7 reminds him of the iPhone which is why he says it and its plain ridiculous. anyway landscape support isn't included in the people hub ,the music + video hub and the pictures hub, but it works for email, messaging ,office and IE flawlessly. its actually faster to use the jumplist to browse through media and contacts, and in contacts if u type letters it'll begin to show up contacts that way too.

Re: I think my landscape is broken

Don't know about the original unedited post (edit..see it now), but the current one seems to be fine and informative now eric. Hopefully Mango will fix a few more landscape support issues. Most users would expect things to rotate and not have wonder if they are missing a setting or something. Most of us here have been following these devices for months and knew what to expect. For me everything right now is so smooth, easy and simple I sometimes forget the live tiles ect. are sideways. OP, I'm sure things will settle in and will be less frustrating.

Re: I think my landscape is broken

Hey everybody,

Thanks for all the responses. Apparently landscape is not very well supported in WP7, which is very surprising to me since most of the interfaces are fairly simple.

Some other things I noticed is that the keyboard is the same way. For example the keyboard can't be used to scroll in the web browser (like I could on my TP2). I am not particularly fond of gestures when things can be done without waving your hand all over the place. Also, in the WP7 menus, you can't jump between fields using the arrow keys.

I'm hoping that the mango update fixes some of these, but I am doubtful since their focus doesn't seem to be keyboarded phones, and also since I haven't heard anything official about anything to do with landscape mode... ever

Only thing I've noticed so far is you can use the space bar on the keyboard to scroll down while on the web. Agree, haven't seen anything Mango regarding landscape but there is always hope. My biggest beef so far is the lack of continuous text messaging.
