Disable or restrict predictive text

Hi everyone...

I'm running WM6...have nothing but problems with memory leaks, lockups, slowdowns, etc.

Disabling the Home plugin has helped a little bit, but I'm still having to soft reset at least once a day.

Anyway.

I'm having a major slowdown when texting due to the predictive text feature (where it offers suggestions). It was never much of a problem with 3.5, but with WM6, it's horrible. It seems in WM6, it not only offers predictions for the word you're typing, but it offers phrases - commonly typed combinations of words.

It seems that this expanded predictive text feature is drastically slowing down my text speed, often reducing me to typing one character per second instead of being able to fluently type.

This problem gets worse the longer I go after a clean load/hard reset as it has an opportunity to build it's dictionary of suggestions.

Does anyone know of a way to either a) disable/reduce the predictive text options or b) clear out its suggestions dictionary?

Thanks for your help.

That sounds annoying. I wonder if there is some other program you're running that's adding to the problem.
I mean I know WM6 still has some bugs to work out, but it sounds like you have an extra problem too.

I don't have WM6 installed, but, if you're refering to the suggested word list that pops up when typing,
Go to Start>Settings>Input>Word Completion, and make sure to un-check "suggest words"
That's how you fix it in WM5. Hopefully it's still the same in WM6.

Good luck.

Hi there...nope...no other programs running but OTA ActiveSync. Straight install of VerizonGuy's rom. Nobody else seems to be having quite as many problems as I am. Had problems with Helmi's original WM6 too.

No customizations to the ROM either.

But thanks for pointing out the location of the suggestions...that did it. I never thought to check the input control panel. It doesn't seem like it would be there.

You are not the only one to have issues with this and using WM6.
