IR?

What's the average range on this? I just tried out Novii remote control and can't get it to work unless I'm within 6 inches of whatever I'm trying to work with. Is this normal?

IR does not go far, that's why you align the ports...

Ya dunno never played with IR on this thing always BT'd files if I need to transfer stuff, and the website was syaing ranges averaged at 6 - 9 feet so I figured I'd ask.
