Downgrade
 

Hey! First post here! Anyways, in the last couple of weeks my xv6700 has been giving me a lot of problems. The phone's radio wouldn't work and sometimes it would. I don't get why it shows up only sometimes. Anyways, I upgraded to the WM6 hoping it would fix the problem, but it didn't. Now I'm trying to downgrade back to WM5 so I can get a new/refurbished phone from insurance, but everytime I try to install the WM5, I get an error saying radio isn't there. Does anybody have the Wm5 without the radio. I could really use it! I really hope I can fix this or get a new one. Anyways thanks!

i heard a few people where have downgrade issues wm6 to wm5. i had wm6 then put wm5 back on with radio not being affected. what carrier do u have and wat radio version do u have? try installing the 1.41 radio rom then going back to wm5.

i know that im on my second 6700 cause the radio in mine burnt out somehow. i would have to take the battery out for 10 mins then put it back in for the radio to work, and it sounds like urs is the same. dont worry if it is cause that type of problem is covered un manufacturers warrenty even if u dont have insurance on it. as long as it hasnt been a year i think. not sure bout the year thing. they will say they will send u a new one for free, but if they find it was broken cause of sothin u did they will charge ya. they say "ok thats 500$ or we send ur old phone back if we find u broke it" but with a radio frying out there is no way the owner could be held responsible.

but like i said try runng the radio rom update and see if that fixes it. wm6 will NOT affect ur phone calls.

also they have the carrier authorized roms at utstarcoms page. its called the 2.x fix i think its 40mbs

also u might be able to get a 6800 when u trade in cause all the carriers are running outa 6700s. check to see, u might need to wait.

I have verizon. The problem I think is the phone doesn't detect the radio. So when I try to put WM5 back on it using the software on the UTStarcom site, it doesn't see the radio. Is there a version that just updates the OS and not the radio. Maybe somebody could split it up for me. I'd appreciate it a lot! I'm in a need of a phone ASAP! And I can't activate a new one because I then can't claim the insurance on this one.

So I threw my phone around on some hard surfaces, and now my radio works! Just downgraded back to WM5. Maybe it will stay like this! If not I'll claim the insurance! This is weird!

I had the same problem on Sprint.

Its the 1.41 radio upgrade. This should be banned from the forums. I never had a single problem until I did that damn upgrade... now I am getting a replacement on Tuesday. *grrr*

Trust me, its sporadic. Mine stopped doing it all day yesterday after the radio remained consistently disabled for the past 2 days. I'm waiting for it to start again.

I haven't knocked my 6700 around to cause something like this either.
