WM6 Internet Sharing not working

Internet Sharing has worked in all V2 & V3.x WM5 OS's I've used, but I cannot seem to get it working on Helmi's WM6. It worked immediately with the last 3.5 I installed (thanks again colonel), which looked like the same internet sharing software as is used in Helmi's WM6, but it just doesn't seem to work. This is on a Windows XP Pro SP2 machine using the built-in driver "Windows Mobile-based Internet Sharing Device"

It seems to be IP address related. It gets stuck at status "Acquiring network address" then switches to "Limited or no connectivity".

Under Support Details, the connection is assigned 169.254.66.5 with mask 255.255.0.0 - which, I'm guessing is part of the problem.

I obviously don't know how all this works, but it worked before and now it is not - does anyone have any ideas? I'm sure this a novice question to most out there. Any help is greatly appreciated - I need this connection frequently for work. Thanks.

And thanks again to Helmi for his amazing work on WM6. I've been using it for 6 days now and have had to soft-reset only once. AWESOME.

Make sure bluetooth is off before trying to connect via internet sharing. The bluetooth radio for some reason interferes with the configuation of the IP Address on the PC's end, thus the limited connectivity.

I too am having an issue with internet sharing. I only have access to USB at this time, so I cannot verify if bluetooth works. I am using WM6.

My laptop appears to be getting a valid IP address from the phone, but I cannot access any websites. I heard mention of needing to manually assigning DNS, do I need to do so? If I do, how do I find the DNS info? I'm going through Verizon.

I was able to find the DNS info I needed, and able to successfully get it working. Sorry for the trouble.

I have been running wm6 from the day it came out, when I found out that Internet Sharing was on there it took my phone to a whole other level. I always knew that the phone had the capablity to do that, I just didn't know how to do it. So it was working fine till about a week ago. It stared to transfer data at 1x which sucked, so I upgraded the radio to 1.41, after that it stopped working all together, I can pick up the IP address but cannot conect to any sites, which in turn started to drive me crazy( I get like that when my phone dosen't work right) so I downgraded back to radio 1.27 and still nothing. after endlessly searching through threads I learned how to set up the phone as a wireless modem, and it works fine but, my activesync is working all crazy now. I like Internet Sharing much better so if someone can help me get it back going I would greatly appreacate it

Travis,

I had the exact same issue. To solve it, I manually entered in the following under my "remote-NDIS host" entry:

IP: 169.254.1.169 (in your case I would also try 169.254.66.5)
subnet: 255.255.255.0
gatewy: leave blank

then soft reset and give it a shot
