How do I update the bootloader version on PPC-6700

Trying to bring back to life a new 6700 never used. How do I update the bootloader version from 1.00 to the latest version? Is it something that I should do? or Need to do?
Also
What is a good working rom for this phone aside from OEM?

Leave bootloader as is, usally doesn't affect much. v1.00 is the best, works with NoID and standard and has a nig capacity.
