how to improve the joystick?

Ok, I've been gaming on my 6700 lately and the joystick is not acceptable for it as i can't get enough traction on it. I'm thinking that what it needs is some kind of slip on or clip on device that makes it easier for my thumb to keep control of the joystick.

For this it either needs to be taller which would give me more leverage on the stick or about three to four times wider

I'm looking for something I can just make myself. Does anyone know of something that fits over the joystick perfectly that I can then modify for this purpose?

Maybe a piece of a drinking straw...
Fill it with a rolled piece of paper to make it more sturdy. Some tape over one end, and the other should slip over the joystick.

Other than that.. if you have a harware store or even a lighting place might have wirecaps of all shapes and sizes. Could probably make something usable with those, some crazy glue, and a straw. Measure and cut the piece of straw, glue it inside the wirecap, and slip it over the joystick (AFTER THE GLUE DRIES :P)

Another thought. Clear plastic tubing would work better and probably fit more snuggly than a straw, but the problem would be finding some that's thin enough to fit in the groove around the joystick and still give you room to move it. That's another one found at the hardware store. Could bring the 6700 with you and try to fit different sizes over the joystick, hehe.

Play-doh...Use play play doh to make the mold of the shape and then let it dry or fire it in your oven [you can add a small piece of copper wire in the middle for stability during the molding process...It comes in different colors and is cheap...Also you can get some clear fingernail polish to use a a clear coat once your finished...Works Great...
