Tether without Admin Rights?
I'm trying to tether my work laptop with my Apache so I can access my work VPN while I'm out. The problem is that I don't have Administrator rights, so I can't install major programs or hardware. The laptop doesn't have Activesync, so I can't use Internet Sharing. I also can't install the Apache as a USB modem, so I can't use WModem to dial-up. Is there anyway of manually loading device drivers without being an administrator? I know there are utilities out there that can reset the admin password, but I'm not willing to go that far. Anyone have any ideas?

I think you have answered your own Q already. IMHO I would get with your IT and get them to install the s/w you need or use the admin tools.

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately my IT department is unwilling to allow non-company devices to be hooked up to their systems. I can understand that it would probably be a support nightmare if everyone started tampering with their computers though. Oh well, I guess I'm just SOL. Looks like no VPN from the beach for now. We do have a Citrix server I can connect to though (just not quite as good as an actual VPN connection).
