WM6 verizon delayed Text Messages

Having a huge issue with delayed text messages.

I am running WM6 that was posted here.

Example: I got a text message this morning that was sent 9/7/2007. Another example: wife sent me a text this morning and I have yet to get it.

Anyone else seeing this? Using ArcSoft MMS Composer 3.0.6.24

Need to get this solved ASAP or will be forced back to an older ROM.

fitbryan 09-10-2007 12:10 PM

Having same problem on Verizon also. Anyone know how to fix this?

I scoured the WM6 bugs thread to no avail. Ive done hard reset, no customization reboot in 3 secs ever comes up, so dont have that issue of resetting before customizations.

Was told I was sent a text last night, still have not received it at all.

I am having the same problem, however I have reverted back to WM5 AKU3.5. Texts I'm supposed to get in the late evening are sometimes not delivered until the next morning. During the day, it seems pretty reliable.

I first noticed this on WM6, but now that I'm back on WM5, I'm beginning to think this may be an issue with the Verizon message center. Since we're not the only ones, I'd be curious to know how many on older ROMs are also experiencing this.

fitbryan 09-10-2007 12:58 PM

I never had this issue on any previous ROM. It has only started since going to WM6 from Helmi.

Funny Ive noticed during the day reliability as well, albeit sometimes texts delayed for hours like others have reported. It was a text last night I did not get at all.

javo419 09-10-2007 12:59 PM

Im on verizon, and my g/f just sent me a text and got it right away.

PPCFreak 09-10-2007 01:04 PM

Anyone contact Verizon to see if there message center had/has an issue with WM6?

Also, in my Remove programs, I have listed ArcSoft ArcSoft MMS and HTC getMMSCtxMenuInfo.

Anyone else have these listed in Remove?

Was thinking of removing both of these, then soft-reset and see if txtmessages still come in.

fitbryan 09-10-2007 01:04 PM

I just sent 1 to a friend and got it back right away as well. It will work fine all day and then the issue happens. Seems intermittent at times, but has happened multiple times now.

fitbryan 09-10-2007 01:14 PM

I called VZW. Was told there was an issue on the 6th but nothing going on now and we should not be having any problems. He rebuilt me on the switch for the heck of it and sent a test text which I received. Im thinking this has to be some issue with the ROM?

PPCFreak 09-10-2007 01:35 PM

Interesting little bit of info:
I sometimes try and use <phone#>@vtext.com to test if txt messaging is really work or not.
I just did a test and got a return notice:
When trying to deliver your message, the mail server xxx.xxx.com encountered problems with the following addresses. Still trying, no action required!
For <phone#@vtext.com>, Open (66.174.3.30) Error 1sec (421 Server too busy, please try back later).

So from this message, it appears that maybe Verizon is not accounting for all the messaging traffic and is still having server troubles?

Funny I tried that days ago to test right after installing the WM6 ROM. I got the text many hours after I sent it.

PPCFreak 09-10-2007 03:46 PM

Ya, did 2 test text messages.....1 got delayed with the error that I posted.
The other went thru right away.

Still think VZW has load issues with there server and causing delays. Still have not gotten the txt msg my wife sent this morning (8am and its now 2:45pm).

Is she on verizon or another provider?

I just sent another my#@vtext.com and no dice. Have not received it. That said, I just got a couple texts from phones while Im waiting for the vtext message. wtf? Im in Socal if that helps.

If this is VZW's issue why did the tech I spoke with say there were not having any issues? Very strange.

I can tell you if you're sending text messages via e-mail, then it's definitely a Verizon issue. I use that a lot (my other even more expensive hobby is home automation). I've had the same problem for a few years, and it was long before I got my 6700. I would even send the e-mail to myself at another address (to prove it was leaving COMCAST), and I would receive it within minutes, yet my text message could be hours to a day behind. I tried arguing with Verizon about it, and all they do is send me a text message from within the system and it arrives instantly. I was unable to convince them that the VTEXT.COM system was having issues. Sometimes I'll get the text within seconds, sometimes hours later. Since I know that I had the problem with my Motorola V710, I know it's not a ROM problem. Unfortunately, I don't have much of a choice, I just live with it.

If you're talking about cell-to-cell text messages being delayed, I've never seen that, but I've also not loaded WM6.

I like home automation too - control4 :)

I saw over on HOFO that verizonwireless.com has been down some over the weekend. This MAY have something to do with the issues we are seeing.

That said, I've never seen cell-to-cell texts this delayed or dropped entirely like this ever either.

Im a search and rescue pilot who relies on text pages for emergencies. I hope this is figured out soon.

Update: I received the vtext text @ 1:29pm. It was sent @ 12:43pm. Nearly an hour late! :(

PPCFreak 09-10-2007 04:47 PM

My delay was very lenghty.
Like I said before, Wife (on VZW) sent text message with 'OK' in it to me on the 7th of Sept at 8pm CST. I did not get the message till 8am CST today, Sept. 10th.

That type of delay is not acceptable but I can not get any VZW tech to state they were having issues over the weekend. Have talked to several different techs and all say there system is just fine (which is a load of crap). I even went as far as saying that I would bring in both phones to a tech store to prove when the message was sent and when I actually got it. But the Tech said it wouldn't prove anything.....

But around here its VZW or Sprint mainly....and I don't live in a big enough city to have good Sprint coverage so its VZW for now.

I don't receive email text messages from my Comcast account at all. NONE of them go through. I was trying to test my text messaging on 9/3 from my Comcast email, but I did not receive a single message. A few days later (9/6) I got a stream of delivery failures that looked like this:

The following addresses had delivery problems:

[myphone#]@vtext.com
Persistent Transient Failure: Delivery time expired
Delivery last attempted at 3 Sep 2007 21:55:41 +0000

I could send and receive without any problem from my Yahoo account at that same time and standard phone-to-phone SMS worked fine too.

Not sure why this happens, but I have a feeling they are doing some sort of spam blocking that may be affecting some email-text users.

sounds like spam blocking to me. I know there has been a lot of press lately about the amount of text spam, and it is no doubt costing the carriers.

I entered the following key when I upgraded and haven't had any problems sending or receiving texts. Picturemail is another issue however.
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Arcsoft\ArcSoft MMS UA\Config\mm1\WspHeader]
"X-VzW-MDN"="Your10digitnumbergoeshere"

That key is an old regedit for MMS, not SMS which is the topic of this thread. As you can see, despite the regedit for MMS, you are still not getting any :)

Jmckinney1976 09-10-2007 08:07 PM

Isn't this a topic about not receiving text messages?

I'm a HomeSeer guy myself.

I've only gotten one or two of these errors recently, but never had before. That's the reason I had to quiet the text message alert at night... I was getting callerid notifications from early morning calls in the middle of the night. I once thought it was on purpose, to tick off COMCAST people. I even restorted to trying to double-hop the messages so that they weren't being delivered from a comcast server, but that didn't help either.

My two cents. Have you tryed txt on other verizon phones. They had service issues with sms all weekend. Might want to inquire with tech support as well on this one at Verizon.

I have a fam member that works for vzw. The concurred the issues.

fitbryan 09-10-2007 10:09 PM

Thanks eyeballz. yes 2 of us inquired (see previous posts) and we were both told there was an issue on the 6th, but that nothing was broken right now and all should be normal....

fitbryan 09-11-2007 02:25 PM

Sent test today and went through within minutes. Also seem to be getting other cell texts continually. Anyone else having issues still or all back to normal?

CommieCOZY 09-11-2007 03:24 PM

Everything has been normal for me since installing WM6. I had no problems over the weekend receiving messages within vzn, other networks, or from email.

eyeballz 09-11-2007 06:00 PM

I have been using the cab for 2 days now...No issues whatsoever. Txt like crazy today and little bit yesterday..Whatever it is....must try the hard reset cause not all of us are having these issues. I left everything defaulted in the cab. Works like a champ. I couldnt be happier with WM6 and Threaded SMS now.
