Is weatherpanel the root of all evil?

I am running helmi's wm6 rom, and woke up this morning t find my phone once again stuck in the splash screen reboot cycle. So far 15-20 resets haven't brought it around, so I am yet again going to have to hard reset. Cannot tell you how disappointing it is that this is still occurring into wm6.

I am almost ready to go back to a plain old cell phone, as this issue has plagued me for almost a year across roms both stock and custom, and even across devices as sprint replaced my phone a few motnhs ago with a brand new one. but I can never identify the root cause, because it never happens right after I install something. It just randomly occurs at some point. The only thing I can maybe point to is weatherpanel. I bought weatherpanel 3-4 years ago, and it was never an issue, but it seems that it might be the common thread.

i have always installed it to the device, and it is set to update itself about every 30 minutes

anybody else notice this?

Bad News

I have had the same issue with WM6 and I do not use Weatherpanel. So wetherpanel may not be the problem.

I use weather panel, have it installed to main memory, am using Helmi's WM6 and it works great.

I am having the same problem, and assumed it was WP. After my last hard reset, I did not install WP, so we'll see what happens......another possibility could be HTC home.

have those who think WP might be the problem updated their version of WP from this site within the last month where storyr fixed an issue with it that caused you device to freeze up?

not me....I was installing a older version I had and I did not need the auth fix.

I was thinking it might be Windows Live...and/or Battery loss.

The common element in all my lockups (across several generations of several roms and five 6700's) has been when I'm using the phone and the battery dies.

My first guess was that a program (or programs) was filling up a memory space or cache and reallocated this space just fine up until a powerloss.... so at time of boot it would still have this space reserved and therefore not allowing the OS to get the resource it needs to start.

I can think of a number of memory allocation theories such as this, but maybe someone can shed light on this perception.

I have the EXACT PROBLEM!!! It works fine... then when I turn it off for school, it wont start! I didn't do anything before either. However, I did remove the battery to turn it off. How about everyone lists their today plugins/startup items and we can match our lists. Starting with me-

HTC Home
Spb Mobile shell, phone suite, pocket plus, backup, time
SBSH Pocket breeze, weather
Resco today plugin
HTC Home
Pocket RSS
Batti

thats all i can think of now

Taking the battery out to shut off the phone sounds comparible to the situation I mentioned in the instance of a power loss - in which case it doesn't clear the memory/cache appropriately.

Perhaps Internet Explorer could be the culprit- in which case it might only be noticed if it's used in a certain way (lots of downloads, internet sharing) or how you have set certain parameters.

Regardless, for me, the problems have been noticed generally after power loss.

Wow. Misery loves company, so.... Nice to see you all here!!

I was running HTC home, WP, and windows live most recently. I usually run more stuff, but just hadn't gotten around to setting anything up. This time around, I'm just running HTC home and WP for a while, then I might try just WP.

I like the suggestion of the power issue. It was definitely low last night, and I forgot to plug it in, but I did still have the green led blinking so it wasn't totally gone. What happens when it gets that low, does it just die? I guess I've never actually seen what it does, but I always assumed it would shut down like a laptop does when the battery gets to a certain point. I wonder if there is a program that would do this?

EDIT: forgot to mention, i am using the latest wp download with the server fix, and it is/was installed to main memory
