Merging Extended Rom with Storage
A friend of mine pointed this possibility out to me earlier today. It would be nice to be able to do this on our Apache's just because the ExtRom is confused with the Storage Card sometimes by some apps. Do not try this on your 6700. This hack was only performed and tested on the hermes. Here's the link
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=326382 and an explanation of how he did it http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...1&postcount=19 |
Is anyone looking into this...? This is just awesome. Most likely won't work for the apache with its luck but the idea is nice. i am not quite brave enough to just pioneer and brick my 6700 without one of the big dogs here posting with a glimmer of hope that it may work. If one of the more proficient could shed some more light i think i would be willing to give it a try. Thanks for the post.

I am really hoping/thinking this will eventually work for the apache, and I would say with our luck, it will!

I don't understand the whole process, but it appears it's something that must be included as an OEM. I also see some people with other phones trying it. Perhaps it isn't device specific? The instructions look complicated, though.

studied the thread an definitely looks like the type of rom editing for a person with experience level of kitchen making.
Also looks like possible with our rom but definitley not easy. |
Re: Merging Extended Rom with Storage
I had looked into it. Spetrillo and I had PMed about it. I decided I needed more learning to do before attempting the "Big Storage" project. It would involve either editing the drivers or writing new ones to "see" the EXT ROM and SD as partitions od one big card.
