6700 GPS Question

Is a bluetooth GPS receiver required to use GPS for software like tomtom on the Apache? Does the phone have it's own functional GPS receiver? Can I just use the internal one if it does? Anything else you can add would be great. I have been searching the forums but I have not seen this question asked yet.

A serpate gps reciever is required.

I wish there was a way to access the internal GPS...

Logicwrath 09-04-2007 06:01 PM

What is the cheapest, reliable, recommended, etc... bluetooth receiver to get?

Actually I'm waiting for spectec to release their SDIO gps modul. (It fits in your miniSD slow and adapts for microSD so you can still have a memory card)

Anyhow there's dozens of bluetooth gps recievers on ebay. Just brows around and read reviews :)

I know.. sucks that it's crippled. My Blackberry 8800 has assisted GPS like the 6700 does cept it's fully functional. I can use Google Maps to navigate.. my 8800 is by AT&T though..

Me too damnit!! Tell Spectec to hurry up already.

I just got the Nokia BT GPS Receiver from Frys electronics for $50. It works pretty well with Google Maps. I'm having trouble installing the software that comes with it. It comes preinstalled on a memory card, but I can't access it.

I really like the concept of the spectec technology and the ability to have that, but as far as practicality is concerned you're going to have to carry that around with that gps module in there. I kind of see it as crippling you're freedom to do other things like listen to music and access apps on your storage card unless you are always wiling to carry that thing around.

I get A-GPS on ONE of my XV6700s

And I am EVER so frustrated! because it does not work on any of the others.
Not sure what gives here.

I dial 922 and get the A-GPS data in field trial and I can quickly past into google maps on the phone.

Works like a champ on my wife's phone but not on mine or buddies.
