How to toggle email checking on and off
Most of the time I am in front of my PC which checks my email so I don't need the PCC-6700 to do it. However, when I am not at my desk, I do want to check the email with the phone. Since I have 5 POP3 email accounts that need to be checked it is a pain each time to go into each one's account settings in Messaging to turn the email checking on and off. Is there some easier way to toggle this on and off? I don't want to leave it on all of the time because then there is more of a chance that EVDO will be on when a call comes in and it will go to voice mail (I haven't gotten brave enought to deal with the details of the hack to allow voice calls while in EVDO). Any suggestions are welcome.

heres an option....its been so long since I used pop accounts on mine so I dont really have an answer for that, but you sign up for direct push from mail2web theres a tutoial on how to in this forum. After doing so you could forward emails from the pop3sto the @mail2web address....this way when ur pop3 accounts get a message its sent directly to ur phone via the direct push email account. and set the pop3s to not even check at all, but then ur gonna have to leave ur pop3s on there if u ur outgoing mail to say something like user@gmail.com instead of user@mail2web.com. Then u can toggle direct push on and off quickly with no issues. :D I hope this makes sense and u find it useful. ;)
~mike Edit: heres the tutorial link for direct push. |
Thanks. I'll consider that, but I really don't want to make any major changes that I don't fully understand. Right now it looks like I've found a partial solution. If I have the phone plugged to the sync cable while at my desk, it seems it doesn't check the emails (no EVDO when on sync, though it seems it should be able to check it via ActiveSync, but it doesn't look like that's happening). That might be enough of a solution for me.
