Instability

I have had stability and speed issues with my PPC-6700 since the day I purchased it. Soon after my purchase I began using the "hacked" roms, it seems to run quickly the day of a hard-reset and slows to a crawl within a week. I have used memmaid and a few other cache cleaners and I've even refrained from installing any additional software yet the device still slows to a crawl and crashes ensue.

I've switched back to sprints rom and realize that without additional software the device not only responds faster but has less stability issues. This seems to be counter to most people experiences with hacked roms. Of course if I load up the software I will probably encounter the same problem with both.

What could this problem be associated with? I'm sure this entire board hasn't been mentally "tricked" into thinking the roms are more stable.

This is my third PPC-6700, same issues.

when posting an issue please post a particular problem. 'it crashes' tells us nothing. What do u use you phone for? what programs do u have installed? when it 'crashes' what does it say (error message) or do?

"...refrained from installing any additional software..."

No error messages, I guess freezing would be a more appropriate word. When answering calls and when opening software (such as file explorer, PIE, pictures & videos), and this does not happen initially. Slowdowns occur mostly while typing or opening text messages. It can take a second or more for what I typed to appear, especially with hacked roms (probably due to the MMS software). Landscape/Portrait transitions also slow considerably with only the date today plugin enabled.

When you install a custom ROM do you use carrier OEM if so do you let the extended ROM run and install that other crap?

datacron 09-01-2007 04:27 PM

Generally my extended ROM remains empty.

My SD card died a while ago, so negative on that one.

When i ran wisbar Advance (installed), phonealarm (installed) with marsware weather (oem) i kept having freeze up problems. But since the Htc home came out i stopped using the others programs and my problems stopped. Maybe this will help.

I'm sure that useful information for many out there, but my particular problem occurs with no additional software and only one today screen plug-in (date).
