thanks

You need a registry editor program. I don't believe you can do registry edits with total commander.

Well we learn something new everyday. Had no idea that was there. Thanks friguy for pointing that out for him. I will stick with my reg editor though. I don't like the interface of TC reg edit.

Zod,
You won't get much help around here if you think this is the way to pose a question.
This is better:
"Could someone please help me find a better link to the PIM Backup software? All the links here are dead."

OK. No problem - [In separate tab, open xda-developer.com, do advanced search for "pim backup" searching titles only. Find Dot Fred's on top. That's what you want. 1 minute.]

Note: I think you need to register on xda-developers to see the attached files at the bottom of the post.

Can somebody please point me to a link where I can upgrade my Sprint PPC6700 to Windows Mobile 6? Thanks.

TMB_XV6700 12-09-2007 06:42 PM

Nightrain,
All relevant topics are in the Apache/Upgrades sub-forum. Read up on the stickies related to the WM6 kitchen, and also check out the thread by robmayer on the WM6 Clean no Junk rom.

Hi everyone. I love this site and reading all the forums, as a total newbie i feel like i'm learning so much here! I've been reading a lot of things about sprint garbage and other carriers as well and was wondering what about Alltel? i have no idea what i need and dont need on the phone so i'm really afraid to just try things. But i really need to enlarge my memory on the 6700 itself. another question... if i download things into my storage card do they still work the same way on the phone or do i have to download directly into the main memory?
p.s. david, nice boobies. are they yours?

Hey, Hey Everybody! New to PPCGeeks (awesome Site), waiting for my phone to arrive by WED, but already doing research via the forums. Started with this nOOb guide, but wanted to know the most important things that I need to do first. Should upgrading to WM 6 be the very first thing I do? Any other threads that give a step by step approach to upgrading my PPC-6700, what to install, what to stay away from? Suggestions are welcomed!! Thanks in advance!!

Re: HTC Apache Tips and Tricks/n00b guide (Please Read First)

actually I'd suggest playing around with the device with whatever ROM comes with it first. Then after a day or two, upgrade to the WM6 version. This way you'll appreciate how much faster and less "buggy"/lock-up prone the device is with WM6. But yeah, I'd recommend the WM6 upgrade and possibly the radio upgrade if the phone hasn't already been upgraded yet. All the information you need is already posted, but most of what you do to the phone is trial and error....so happy flashing!

Any updates on this thread? And updated links to the programs mentioned previously? I'm currently running ROM V.3.60.70WWE (ROM Date: 08/31/07); Radio Version: 1.41.00 all on WM6.0

I'm just wondering if there IS or will be a n00b guide to upgrading to WM6.1. Or do I need to upgrade? Suggestions?

Would it be better to upgrade to a basic "generic" WM6 ROM first?
Also, how do I update the Radio?
Thanks...

Im running Vista...I know I know, and the only pain Ive had from my apache is when I flashed it onto bootloader v2.05. I could not get the device to show up in mobile device center let alone reflash the rom/fix.

heh, it took a macbook dual booting xp

I'm new here and I've been looking around for a while and man am I confused. My real questions are when you download WM5/6 do you automatically get a registry editor or is that a different download? My second question, Is a kitchen the same thing as a registry editor?

If the newest ROM is version 2.06.00 WWE then how come I have 2.07.00 WWE?
Should I update or can I update it? Does it matter if I want to update to WM6?
Does that have anything to do with wi-fi and activesync not working? Thanks.

I looked up my version and have version 2.07.20--but it is dated 2/24/06. My logic says that since mine is a "newer" version (isn't it?) that the date should be some time after 10/2/06. What am I missing?

Thanks!

I think this is possibly the answer to your question about why you have 2.07 and not 2.06.....it seems it is due to who you have as your provider. Not sure about the other 2 issues yet.....I am still reading all I can before my own phone comes next weekend.

A registry editor is a program for editing the registry (ie. regedit.exe in windows) and is NOT usually included in a windows mobile build. You can download free registry editors everywhere, Google it real quick.

The BuildOS kitchen is a program that simplifies the ROM building experience.

You would want to use WM6.1 or Kirvin clean WM5 ROM. WM6 is not even a question... Radio is fine.
