just erased the Extended_ROM2 contents -- is this bad?

i have trying a couple of different ROMs today (Kirvin's newest and Phoenix's) - and i erased the contents of the Extended_ROM2 -- is this bad? what do i need to do to ensure a non-bricked phone?

You probably nned to state what carrier you use so someone can email you the file that go in there and some of them may be needed if you ever flash your phone again.

sorry! - Verizon

is it necessary for all of those to go back in there?

andason 08-22-2007 07:25 PM

It is not necessary for the moment. Depending on if you rom is customized to include it or not, you could just hard reset and the extended rom will come back. Otherwise try searching the ftp server and you should find the original extended rom files.

Just flash your phone with the latest update from ustarcom.com. That will reflash your ext rom then flash back what every rom you were using.

Your phone wont be bricked if the EXT rom is empty. I use the Kitchen to build my own rom. The kitchen inlcudes all the carrier customizations so I don't even need the EXT rom. I erased mine and i use it for extra storage.

thanks -- along the same lines of the Extended_ROM2 question -- how do we allow our mail attachments to be stored on our storage card and not the Extended ROM?

I'm looking for a solution to this issue. Any suggestions?

If you're using WM6, under messaging, click Menu >> Options >> Storage. It gives you the option to store attachments to the storage card. (Or at least that's how I do it on my phone...)

I am using WM6 on a PPC6700. The only option listed is to store it on the "Extended ROM" storage card which is small.

Ahhh you're right, I was looking at mine wrong. Oi. Perhaps a registry tweak could fix this?
