replacement stylus

so, i bought a 3 pack of styli (the kind with a pen in them), and a screen protector for a good price on e-bay.
the styli fall out of the phone VERY easily. worse than the stock stylus.
are there any tips or tricks to make your stylus stay in better?

I put a very small piece of scotch tape on top of stylus.

I bent mine just a little bit.

Funny, I got the pen/stylus combo and i had to trim the juncture of the plastic tip and the metal barrel because they fit so tight the pen top kept coming off when I tried to pull it out!

I got mine from a friend's 3-pack extra kit he bought at Verizon:

They have tiny ball bearings that prevent the stylus from slipping out of the radio antenna.

Since you also experience the same problem as I do (my regular stylus slides like butter out of the PPC6700 antenna), I'd have to recommend a small piece of scotch tape overlapped two or three times around the end. It serves as a great e-brake for the stylus and is free.

What's interesting is that the XV6700 will hold on to the same stylus with 10x more grip. Therefore, it is safe to assume Sprint may have made the stylus slot a little too big (somewhere on the magnitude of 1/32"). I would guess that since Sprint & Verizon use different radio hardware in the Apache 6700, that they would also have different antennas...requiring two separate pieces to be manufactured.

Maybe this "defect" will get us Moguls? Ha! :D

U know, when the 6700 first came out i kept hearing about how the stylus keeps slipping out and such. When i got my 6700 (brand new, bought it in sept 06 *holy $*it it's been a yr! wow time flys*) the stylus never slipped out. It fit perfect. Infact I would put a little bit of the stylus in the antenna and then let it go to c how far it goes and it would stop 3/4ths in and once i put it all the way it (hey lets keep it clean guys!!!) I've tried to shake it loose or hold the 6700 upside down and nada, it fit there perfect. Even after a yr of use it still fits in there great, it's a little bit worn out 'cause i can take it out faster than before but that's all from a yr of using.

Reading all ur posts just reminded me of how i kept seeing this prob. when i was reasearching the phone and figured i'll put my input.

i find my stock stylus to be pretty good.. haven't lost it yet.. i did buy a 3pk replacement on ebay though and havent had no issues at all. i find there more tight but not enough to make the tip pop off as mentioned in another post above.

I've only lost 1 stylus ever, and I still to this day don't know where it is. (My guess it's sitting in the panera bread parking lot in Omaha). Since then I've used the scotch tape trick and it's worked marvelously. Takes a little trial and error to figure out just how much to use, but I managed it alright. It's in there nice and snug. :)

ok, good info.
i really want to use the ones with the pen, cause i hate carrying them, plus its got a bit of "wow factor".
thanks all.

just got a new replacement sprint 6700, the new slot actually grabs the stylus in 3 different spots now, instead of the old 6700 where it only grabs toward the last inch
