APCAHE or MOGUL?? some advice please

I am just looking for a few people maybe who have used both phones. I will be adding either a ppc6700 or the 6800 mogul on Sprint in a few weeks. I currently use an xv6700 on verizon and my son has a ppc6700 on Sprint. I can get a mogul for 99 bucks or the ppc6700 for free basically. I am wondering of someone can tell me if it is even worth the 99 bucks just for the memory difference. I realize the mogul has WM 6 but is there enough applications out there yet for WM6? are there any other advantages to the mogul besides the extra memory? I know it takes micro sd instead of mini (no surprise) but as far as stability and , ROM upgrades, etc. How do the 2 compare.? Looking for unbiased opinions from some folks who hopefully have used both. I believe the processors are evenly matched from specs I have seen, so I wonder why spend an extra 100 bucks and have to change memory cards?

please see my follow up post below for an additional inquiry

- I think so.

- see post above

- more likely "official" upgrades from htc/sprint
- likely "unofficial" upgrades from the users
- will likely hold value better if you do consider to sell it
- html email

- currently no unofficial roms for the mogul
- stable rom, i don't have to soft reset as much.. no hard resets yet.
- memory usage doesn't appear as user friendly as the ppc 6700
- slimmer design, but for me a little harder to hold on to then the 6700
- I can't stand the stylus and the stylus location of the mogul

I would go with the mogul, you could probably find a 6700 any time for next to nothing before long.

I have had the 6700 since its release and just got the Mogul 2 weeks ago. No doubt, go with the mogul. Much sharper and better screen, easier to see outside in the daytime. Better battery life, smaller size (thinner and no antenna), rev A upgradeable, maybe A-gps coming, seems to run faster and be more responsive.
Also, it comes with a 512 micro sd card. As far as compatibility, everything has run on my mogul from my 6700 plus more. Alot of new stuff is being ripped out of WM6 devices, so it is easier for us to use.
I would def. go Mogul, unless you can hold out until November for the touch. That is when my Mogul is going to replace my Wifes 6700 and I will be picking up a touch.
I also find with all the programs I have put on my Mogul, I never pull my stylus out. I actually forget I have one. If you find yourself pulling it out, you do not have the right programs!

What is the Touch? And which carrier will have it? is it just Sprint? Verizon still doesn't have the 6800 ... grrr.

Yes, it is coming to sprint. I have not heard anything about Verizon. It is pretty much like the Mogul, minus the hardware keyboard, making it thinner. Also has its own cool overlay, called the touch. It does cool things with just your fingers and swiping. Its kind of like HTC's answer to the iphone....Search it on youtube, you can see it demonstrated.

your ?

personally, wide has both and he loves his 6700 & the Mogul. I use his old 6700, but I would love to have the mogul instead, just for the fact that it's more compact and better looks!! You always have a memory card for that extra memory, so don't let that stop you!

I have used the mogul for the last week and find it terribly limiting having come from the Apache. Here are the only things that I think make it better than the 6700:

1. Thinner & Lighter
2. Much better keyboard
3. Extra flash memory for storage
4. The backlight now dims to a very low level instead of going off completely--which is actually a much better way to do it. On the Apache (and other WM devices) if you're reading something and the backlight timer expires, the whole backlight goes off, making the screen impossible to see--so you either have to press the power button twice, or tap the screen in a corner or something and hope you haven't activated something in the process. It's a small thing but for me one of the most impressive.

Software-wise, I think the mogul stinks. It's running an old revision of WM6 and is using buggy sound and video drivers. Nothing is optimized for speed (unlike the current 6700 ROMs). The ROM was thrown together at the last minute because Sprint wanted to have the first US WM6 PPC device--and it shows.

I will be ESN swapping back to the apache and will keep the mogul in a drawer for the time being. Most of its flaws are software related, so I fully expect them to be fixed in forthcoming ROM updates. But as of now the apache runs circles around the mogul--both in terms of speed and flexibility.

Very well put... The mogul is suffering from WM6 Launch version problems... Kinda like on January 30th of last year when vista launched on prebuilt compaq's with 512MB of ram... (LAG) It will get better though, Hopefully sooner then later!

Thanks folks, that is exactly the info i have been looking for. I did see the HTC touch and not sure its for me as i do enough data entry and it seems without the keyboard that might not be as smooth as i like. I do not use SMS so that's no issue. My bro has an Iphone and he has some issues with using that touch "keyboard" . I am a bit disappointed about the ROMS, though, if that is correct. I think I am using Big J's 1.2 right now on my xv6700 and not sure I could handle a slowdown on operating if there aren't alternative ROMs out there to speed it up. Maybe that is incorrect? I am glad to hear that all the apps are wm5/wm6 operational. Can anyone tell me if there is any difference in video capture? The 6700 is certainly lacking in that area and I doubt there is much difference. I do use that somewhat. Also, the video playback for multimedia files??? The same as 6700? I believe they could have done much better setup on the 6700 when it comes to that , but as we all know all aspects considered the 6700 is a kickin li'l unit. I had a Samsung i730 before this but Verizon couldnt replace it so I had to take 6700. anyway, if some reads this last post ,maybe you can tell me about any video capture, playback differences between apache and mogul , and also verify the lack of new ROMs for the mogul. Am I to understand that "currently" the mogul doesnt run quite as fast and stable due to the lack of an "upgraded rom? What I mean is , is the mogul operating more like pre AKU3.5? I would have hoped for at least comparable performance. That really does suck and I hate to slow down when " upgrading" Thanks
