Changing the beachball animation

Probably the most intrusive graphical element in WM is the beachball. It gets right in the middle of the screen, does it's little dance, on top of everything, and won't go away until the loading is done.

That's fine. I understand it's purpose and it's a good thing. But it's too intrusive to not be modded.

I'm guessing that somewhere there's a tiny gif file or something that controls this... Anyone know where this image data is?... and if it's embedded in some bigger file... how to implant something else into it?

I'm willing to put a few hours to do this...

Check the Colonel's rom threads. Colonel had some different spinning yin/yang icons in his roms for a while, and I think a method for changing them was discussed.
[Edit - wrong rom mentioned before.]

The link earlier in this thread is dead.
Does anyone have a link to how to change the spinning pinwheel/beachball?
I found this at Lakeridge, and wanted to use it instead.
There are bigger ones, but for some reason I get the message that I can't have anything bigger than 19.5Kb for a GIF, so I can't show them.
You can see the ones that were created in this thread.
Oh, and I'm using the WM6 ROM, so I don't know if that makes a difference.

I tried to install the different wait icons using the program. It worked in WM5 but not in WM6.

Anything that I should do different? Anyone get it to work in WM6?

Thanks
