Mobile Web 2.0's instant messaging (for 6700'd)
99% of the time, I search through posts, but never post..
This time I tried search, but couldn't find the answer.. Is there any way to use instant messaging for aol, yahoo & msn through MSN like their Mobile Web 2.0's can? (Obviously on the 6700) I pay for the mobile messaging service as part of my family plan, but I don't have a crappy mobile 2.0 phone.. was thinking I could download a program that would work with my 6700. or is it much more simple than that like signing up on msn, yahoo or aols website? |
Shape Services' IM+ should work for you.
It does MSN, Yahoo!, ICQ, AOL, Jabber, and Google Talk |
Yeah, I use IM+ and it works great. Ive never had an issue with it.

There is also http://www.octro.com/ - OctroTalk - which (for now anyway) is free.

How is Octro? I haven't tried it yet... but I don't like IM+
I really wish there was a program out there that managed IMs like the Sidekick did... like remapped the buttons or something... nothing beats the Sidekick for IM capability. |
To be honest (even though you have to pay a one time fee for it) I'm extremely partial to Mundu IM. Works brilliantly on my 6700, although I tend to use windows live messenger for msn more than mundu, but it works great for everything else :)

I've tried IM+ and Octro and prefer Octro. After a while, IM+ would stop connecting and told me after 3 tries reconnecting there was no connection. Shape Services has informed some that they should set the number of reconnection tries to 100 or 200 in order for it to reconnect sucessfully. Seems like a little bit of a battery drain to me...
And Octro is free (as noted above...for the time being...) |
