OHMIGOD--storage card WIPED OUT
All of a sudden my 6700 stopped recognizing apps on the storage card. After a couple of soft resets to try to correct it, nothing shows up on the storage card at all. (All the fiies and folder structures were still there even though nothing was being recognized.) NOthing shows up in either File Explorer on the device or in Explore from ActiveSync. Is there any reason to think I'd be able to salvage anything using a SD card reader (I don't have one to try.)
THis is after doing another hard reset yesterday to fix strange connection problems I'd been having! |
Well eventhought you install your apps in the minisd card, you'll have to reinstall them after a hard reset.

man....I hadn't had this happen to me but am scared of it. my storage card holds a lot important info. (its backed up tho) and I myself have done a lot of hard resets the past two days. if I'm not mistaken u should be able to salavage info off of it as long as u don't reformat it, I think. I will look around and see I know u can on pcs...I suggest trying to see if a pc can read it first, if u can gain access to one with a sd slot and u have an adapter.

some laptop has a minisd slot. If you don't have one, you could try to look around the display models at BestBuy or Compusa. And bring a thumbdrive with you so you could backup what you need.

I know the apps need to be reinstalled--it's everything else I had on there (and never backed up--thought the card was safe!)

update--nothing to salvage.
I used my the SD slot on my Palm LifeDrive and mounted the card on my Mac--the only folders I see were the 2 that I saw the other ways--Temp Internet Files & an Inbox.mst folder. |
just because u cant see the files dont mean there not there. just have to find an app to recover those. when u delete stuff it just removes the shortcut. ;) so u can indeed recover...at least on the desktop that is.....so surely u can on a minisd....maybe?

Just FFI I have hade the SD card become un-readable on my ppc 6700 before and with some research I have found that what is happening is. My 6700 is trying to load either temp internet files or email files and the storage card is asleep or for some reason not available, so the PPC auto creates a storage card file in the main memory. I have seen this several times so I am not crazy. After I removing the storage card from the PPC, on to my file explored I still show a storage card. When I delete that storage card and put the real card back in everything goes back to normal. Dose that make any since at all :?:
