i've read somewhere that the battery in the iphone is not removable like pretty much all cell phones. so if ur battery gets messed up u gotta send it in and pay a fee to get it replaced =/

Well that's basically the whole iPhone. Nothing is removable and unless u wanna open the phone up urself and void the warranty, u'll have to send it into Apple for anything that happens, including the sim card, which is build in.

Does that mean the iphone can't be unlocked for use on T-mobile?(sim card issue)

Yeah, if it's anything like the $65+shipping for a battery change on an iPod, they can have it. I like the fact that I can slap a new battery in my 6700 in 5 seconds myself, and you can get that battery on ebay for cheep!

Actually the SIM card is changeable by the user

And it is also possible to unlock it to work with other GSM carriers. You can do it yourself but it will cost you about $80.

well between the two i take function over form anytime. even though 6700 is not as appealing to anyone as iphone, no one can deny dat at&t is suck as iphone network. the lack of customizing is an apple thing. i think that even though everyone complain about 6700 speed and function, there is a fix for it where iphone u just have to live with it.

windows needs to create a comp. new os for mobile devices..they need to get away from a mobile version of windows...and create a os that is tailored to mobile devices exclusivly...

the problem is they are trying to take windows..which is designed for a ppc and make it fit for a phone....they should come up with something comp. new...

I think the strength of the iphone is that is not MS based. Windows mobile might be neat but is not convenient for mobile devices, is too similar to its desktop counterpart. The iphone OSX version on the other hand is better tailored for small devices (no stylus needed!). Don't get me wrong, I love my PPC6700, but i must admit Apple has a great platform with the Iphone and it will only get better. I hope Palm and other linux and unix distributions (and why not even MS) pick up on Apple's example and develop a mobile OS that breaks the "mini-windows" mold. Now if Apple could bring out a mobile version of Safari, boy!!!! I would be really happy!

yeah sometimes I take out my phone and people ask me what it DOES. I tell them how it gets my email, lets me use microsoft office, browse the internet, run pharmacist software, and still does everything else a "normal" phone does with a nice touchscreen. They usually respond with, "oh, so its an i-phone ripoff?" Then I tell them that its been out for almost 2 years now and they give me a confused look.

iphone is just great marketing and appealing for not just power users, but for the general public who want a "cool" phone with above average options, yet without the extreme versatility/hassles of a PPC.

"People don't buy an iPhone because of what it can do, they buy it because its an iPhone." - Verizon rep.
