ROM Executable?
I know this question has probably been asked a dozen times, but I've searched, and I can't seem to find it, so...
Could someone please explain step-by-step how to change the ROM built by the Kitchen into an executable file? I keep finding ROMS in the form of EXEs, where you simply put your device in Bootloader mode, and run the executable. I'd love to be able to do that... it'd make sharing that "perfect build" so much easier. If this is already available somewhere, sorry for the duplication... just pointing me toward that thread would be fine. Thanks. |
Winrar works good for me. Here's what I do...
After your ROM is built (nk.nbf file), and placed in the Upgrade folder of the flash utility you use... 1. Open Winrar and navigate to that folder (Ex: Kitchen\Upgrade\NoID_RUU) 2. Select all the files and choose "commands->add files to archive" from the menu. 3. Check "Create SFX Archive" on the "General" tab. 4. Click the "SFX Options" button on the "Advanced" tab. 5. On the "General" tab type in the name of the flash utility exe under "Run after extraction". (Ex: APACUpgradeUt.exe) 6. On the "Modes" tab, Check "Unpack to temporary folder", "Hide start dialog", "Overwrite all files". 7. The "Text and Icon" tab you can modify however you like to personalize it a bit. 8. Click "Ok" to bring you back to the Archive dialog or you can go back to the "General" tab and click the "Save current settings as default" button so you don't have to set the advanced SFX options every time. 9. Click "Ok" again if you're satisfied with the settings and it should create your new shiny EXE. |
Thank you very much! Exactly what I was looking for.

You're welcome :)
Another thing I thought of too, is if you use zip compression instead of rar compression on the first tab then people will be able to rename the file to .zip and just use it that way too if they prefer. Windows XP and higher will open it like a folder. |
Thank you for the info. This is a great way to save ROMs instead of rebuilding them every time.
