OEM question
I made my first OEM for a game that I have. It consisted of a single exe and some language files in a subfolder.
BuildOS puts the files into the dump folder and running the batch files I can see the files being processed while making the nk image. However, none of the files seem to actually exist on my ppc after flashing. The exe isnt in the windows folder, the link isnt in the games folder, etc. Any thoughts on what I did wrong? Thanks in advance. |
Go ahead and post your OEM here as a .rar or .zip.

Thanks for the response.

Roastpork has already made an OEM for this that works fine for me.

Cool.
See - I didnt even know that there was a place to look for other OEMs. |
That's cool gbm85, but I went ahead and looked at the OP's OEM anyway. Everything is fine except your initflashfiles.txt file is Encoded in ANSI. It must be in Unicode to be processed by the OS on first boot.
Without the initflashfiles, your shortcut doesn't get copied to the start menu. All of its stuff was there in the \Windows folder though--it's just that by default Explorer hides stuff from you (to solve that, go to the menu [right softkey] and choose show all files) or use a better file manager like Total Commander. I threw your OEM into a ROM I'm building now and will let you know if the change to Unicode on the initflashfiles.txt fixed it. Don't be discouraged. We need more people willing to put in the time to make OEMs. It just takes practice to get everything exactly right. |
I certainly dont mind playing.
I am a programmer by day (working in the telecommunications industry), and have recently been bitten by the bug to play with my phone. The forums and members here are great. Thanks for the help luv. I will give it a shot on this end, too. |
Just confirming that the change to Unicode on initflashfiles.txt made the OEM work fine for me.

Odd...
I changed my file to Unicode, but same problem. Also, I was using Total Commander for my explorer. The files arent there. I downloaded the RoastPork OEM and I get the same exact thing - nothing. Guess I will play with it some more tomorrow. Thanks for the suggestions. |
Well, I figured it out and it was my falut of course. Worse yet, it was something you warned about, luv2chill.
I had built with 1.0.3, and then switched back to using 1.0.2. But, as you warned, the encoding tool was pointing to the previous location. Hence I was flashing a different image than I thought I was. Everything seems okay now. Thanks again. |
