Small Carrier... latest ROM?

I'm using the Clean & Simple that I loaded a couple months ago... I understand that the new drivers extracted from the Official 3.3 release are being used in the newer ROMS.

The issue here is that I'm not on a Sprint or a Verizon.. I'm with Cellular South so I need something thats Generic but still making use of the new drivers.

What are my options?

just go to any of the roms and look at the download link, one will be sprint, another verizon, and the other is generic. just dl the generic one and youre good to go, it will install all the stuff u need for your specific carrier.

You could always cook your own with the 1.02 kitchen and just let your carriers customizations run after the hard-reset. That will allow you to pick and choose what you want, too.

All you really have to do is unzip the kitchen, run BuildOS that lets you pick everything off a checklist, then run createROM and it'll even flash it for you.

If you get adventurous enough to build your own ROM with the kitchen, the next version (out in a day or so) will have a Cellular South OEM package I made. That way you can build your own ROMs that have all the Cell South customizations build in.

Nice... I didn't even know that CS had made any customizations... even the handset itself is still branded UTStarcom -- what are you adding in from them?

I can wait.

i believe the customizations that luv is talking about are what runs after a hard reset, like the prl and message settings and other stuff that make your phone function as a phone. its all in your extended rom

w0rdie,

I am also on Cellular South in TN. Last week I uploaded my ext rom per Luv's request and that is where is getting the carrier customizations. I assume that he is just using the "Generic" extrom that comes from original CSouth install, with maybe some junk removed or adjustments made to better suit the 3.3.1 rom.

Luv2chill,

If you need any additional information about CSouth specific settings I will do what I can. I am currently using a personalized version of Helmi 1.2, and I let the extrom run after hard reset. I have tried to look at some of the differences between CSouth and the other carriers (specifically, .dll's and reg entries) but havent really found anything significant. I am still trying to decode the nbf's from the original rom, but no luck so far.

If there is anything needed "internally" from CS I can most likely get my hands on it...

w0rdie, the only thing I'm missing is MMS settings for CS (if they actually offer a MMS server that's compatible with the Arcsoft MMS application we use).
