Is 1.27 radio ROM for Sprint only?

Hello-

I asked this in another thread, but I think it's worthy of having its own.

I'm confused as to what the 1.27 radio ROM is for. Several posts I've seen indicate this was intended for Sprint users only, yet I've also seen posts saying it works on Verizon with a few tweaks.

Can anyone clarify?

Thanks.

-TM

Download this file ftp://ppcgeeks:ezupload@ppcgeeks.com...Radio-1.27.rar

Read the readme first then use the RUU.
It works fine for me, and I use Verizon.

Oh, and by the way, when you complete the RUU you can do a soft reset instead of a hard reset. That way you won't lose all your data, and start over.

Alright, what's the deal here?

Do you have to hard reset or not? The other thread and the readme says that you do? If not, just bootloader and flash like normal?

Yes, just bootlooader and flash like normal. This will only update your radio. Do a soft reset when you are done, and you will have your same phone as before, but with a newly updated radio.

Little scared about doing this? I have an Alltel phone flashed to the Cricket Network. If I use this, will I have to reflash my phone to cricket? Cause I'm broke and can't afford 60 bucks for another flash.

phoenx06, have you seen an improvement in reception and battery life over the previous radio version 1.10?

I have the XV6700 on Verizon and would like to upgrade if the reception and battery life are better.

TIA!

I haven't had it on there long enough to truly test the battery life, but I am definately seeing an improvement on the signal. In a lot of areas where the signal would bounce back and forth, I am now getting a very steady signal. I'd say a good 15% increase at least.

Is 1.27 radio ROM for Sprint only?

No go here on my XV6700 with Saridnour's ROM.

The Apache ROM Update Utility starts to work and then pronounces an "ERROR 120: COUNTRY ID ERROR" "The ROM image that you are trying to use is not designed to work with your device."

Bummer. I wanted to get past this 1.10 radio ROM.
