Dear UT Starcom and Sprint, a wish list for the next PPC.

This is what I would like to see in the next Pocket PC, the 6800 (?):

1. Java, java, java: No doubt, one of the biggest annoyances of owning the best Pocket PC in the world is the absence of javascript. None of us can watch videos on youtube.com and the like, we can at least download flash player but that is another problem it itself. And we can't even find out about our account balances onscreen.

2. Close programs: This is more of a Microsoft issue, you can only minimize programs, not close them. Sure there are applications like Opera and Firefox that do a better job but if you can close a program on your desktop, you surely should be able to do it on your Pocket PC.

3. Remove Powerpoint This seems like a no-brainer, who really uses Powerpoint here? No offense but that is a wasted program because you cannot create new slide presentations and other documents, only exisiting ones can be downloaded from your memory card.

4. Compatibility if UT Starcon is going to make a great phone, make it uniform so other people won't get ticked off. The XV-6700 has Verizon's MMS Picture and Video mail but the PPC-6700 for Sprint does not (of course there is the program we all have downloaded but don't you think you should have something archived like Sprint's Picture Mail?). If they don't want to install MMS, then fine. But don't install MMS on one phone and not do it on another phone.

Anyone else have more suggestions we can share here?

yea, build to order. like have 3 form factors. let the customer choose his/her form factor, and then add the programs they think are necessary for them. kinda like a dell pc. u call and tell them what u want. how cool would that be!!?!?

yea the powerpoint is worthless. lol

Haha yea the phone is for business men and they need that type of stuff on the phone for the companies they work for......where as I just use mine to stay connected  Im sure we can remove it......maybe..... Anyways I would say compact .net framwork 2.0, ad2p built in, mms, instant messaging, threaded sms, maybe a rotating screen similar to the jas-jar to protect screen and I think it just looks sweet. Thats about it.

*hardware lock
*more internal memory, both RAM and Flash (this is a give I guess but I thought I'd mention it.
*flip over screen would be good, for screen protection
*volume WHEEL, not a slide bar like it is now. hell, I'd settle with good old fashioned volume buttons
*bluetooth 2.0 (also a given I guess)
*higher res camera

I don't care about software, that's easy to overcome, thanks to sites like this. hardware is for life though.

i want 352908932759324GB of memory and 394534GB of ram!!! i am so realistic that it could happen on the next one i swear

hmmm... that much memory requires extensive knowledge in quantum physics that we don't have... unless the government isn't telling us something... :D

and we'd probably still complain that it's not enough :P

Make my 6700 upgradable in memory. Real memory is so cheap these days that it's hard to belive it didnt come with 2 or 3 gig. How about a harddrive (microdrive). Put the software on an install card. Let me pick what I get to install. I don't use business software but if I delete all this stuff, where's my backup?
Really make this the last PPC/phone I ever buy. Give me ways to make it better.

"Make this the last PPC/phone I ever buy" That of course would be the last thing they want to do. They make money by continually adding things to make you want to buy the next version. (Granted, not as shoddy as Palm has done with the Treo, but that's a different story.) Hoping to make the next phone the best phone currently available would be doable though. My thoughts... while a high resolution camera may be nice, it isn't a necessity on a business phone. (Remember, this is a business phone first) A high resolution screen on the other hand should be manditory. The rotating screen, should be a common sense thing to protect your investment (and face it, to look cool!) Of course more memory, SD cards work well and all, but some programs like being placed on the phone itself. Keyboards are a must, Bluetooth, Wifi (inter-office file transfers), built in GPS would be nice as well, but again I don't know about it being a business needed app. Push email though is again a must. The ability to auto ignore certain numbers via a profile would be perfect as well. I am sure there are more, but that's all I can think of for the moment.
