I take it that these apps are sending version info about themselves to Sprint's MMS server and the server is rejecting the MMS because it is not getting version information it likes.

Is this informtation that it is sending in the reg somewhere, or is it hard coded into the app. If hard coded I wonder if it could be changed via hex edit?

I get the same message on my 6800 unfortunately.

I looked at the files in the Palm Messaging app as a last resort, but they are all DLL's, I have no idea if it is possible to edit these.

I looked around @ the strings in the DLL/EXEs in the Palm applications.
The string "X-VzW-MDN" does appear in what appears to be a message that can be sent to an error log. I was unable to find out how to enable the log or to find out how to set the value. I'm guessing the app either auto detects Verizon or there is a registry key to enable Verizon specific behaviors.

I then looked around about the MMS protocol and MMS gateways - there are a few string resources in the MMSStack.dll that might be relevant - specifically a string "No From" which is put into the header if there is no "from" address (not sure if that is the MDN or not). There is also a string resource "/TYPE=PLNM" which is appended to the MDN in the MMS gateway protocol. I tried adding by phone # to various places in those strings without much luck.

I think the easier approach would be to find a Verizon customer with the Palm SMS application working and look at their registry.

I did look for what would be "obvious" registry value names in the DLL/EXEs, but got tired of looking (and trying). I decided to focus on finding out why the standard SMS application wouldn't work for me instead.

Looks like there is some hard coding of the hardware id in the mmsstack.dll file.

see attachment.

still doesn't answer the question of what is the uaprof.xml file for the 6700 if it even exists.

It might be nothing of relevance as well. not sure

so hex edit that to the lg9900 and use the same in the registery. trasfer the mmsstack.dll back to the pda and soft reset. see if we can fake the mms out.

ill be laughing from the sidelines if it works out.

Never know.

The lg link is

vx9900 is the id.

good luck

The Threaded SMS from the WM6 Treo 750 was ripped

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=319899

In reference to the UAProf, this version has the following reg keys

"MMSUA"="TREO650R7"
"MMSUAProf"="http://www.electricpocket.com/UAProf/Palm/TREO650R7.xml"

All the settings are set to Cingular, but Cody is working on a Sprint version this weekend for the 6800

http://ppcgeeks.com/viewtopic,p,69720.html#69720

I get the "unsupported format" error still, but I'll play around with it. I get this with the Treo650 setting as well as the http://uaprof.vtext.com/lg/vx9900/vx9900.xml setting. I am on Sprint, so that could be an issue since the vx9900 is a Verizon phone. Anyone have a UAProf XML URL for a Sprint MMS capable phone?

EDIT: Found this one for the Sprint 650. The WM6 750 Threaded SMS cab uses the UAProf for a 650, so I don't see why we can't do the same. The device name/model is POTR650HK.

http://device.sprintpcs.com/PALMONE/...azer400103.rdf

However, I still get the same "unsupported format" error.
