Programs to include in a new rom?

Alright like u may have already seen. I plan on working on my own rom. And utilizing the extended rom to the fullest. ;) So I need to know what do yall find as necessary programs. Just the base programs, and freeware at that? I'm thinking magic button or some task manager. mms hack and........anyone? or anyone know a better free task manager. cuz I know some don't like magic button....but I personally love it. :thumbleft:
Thanks for any suggestions,
Mike

here is a list of needs for me
rescoe explorer minus all the today crap...less really is more
tweaks2k2
mms pm
total commander
aol software(cant seem to find anymore)(not the uk aim client the actuall software for ppc)

magic button is one of those take it or leave it kinda deals...i think it gets in the way more than anything...

install dynamo as an option to magic button, as always siriusCE should be in there maybe, but i am not sure since it gets update so often.

GsPlayer would be nice, as well a PHM Regedit

darkmojo 09-03-2006 03:44 PM

I vote for Magicbutton. It's easy enough to shut off when it gets in the way.

Another program I like a lot is pwrstat. It's a inobtrusive battery and memory display (it takes up one row of pixels at the very top of the screen and is one of the few apps I've seen that works well in flip-mode).

I definately vote for all freeware. I was very annoyed by the payware crap that came on my phone.

EDIT: I vote for PHM Regedit as well. I assume this ROM is meant for people that know what they're doing (or at least can BS it well) ;).

Yay to bad resco isn't free so I couldn't include it. Dark the battery indicator at the very top? if so magic button has that option too if u didn't know ;) and this rom should as doing the orginal upgrade.

I never could get the one it came with to display. I found pwrstat on accident. It actually displays above the taskbar, at the margins of the screen, taking up no space on the taskbar.

Wideawake 09-03-2006 04:12 PM

if u check the setting to show battery meter u will also see alittle white line that takes up not today scren and is also displayed above the task bar. :) check it out.....u may not need that one.

OK I got a few
1) Genocide Device Status
2) SM Hubdog
3) TCPMP (of corse)
4) GreenSoft Alarm Clock
5) Microsoft .net CF 2.0+
6) LVM second clock
7) Jimmy's GreenBattery fix(the last one)
8) Mabe On Demand (or is that only Sprint)
Thats all

Wideawake 09-03-2006 04:27 PM

yeah its only sprint but this may be a only sprint rom I haven't decided or really looked into rom differences. Just trying to get a feel of things. ;)

darkmojo 09-03-2006 04:28 PM

Oh, another one if space permits, is Wolfclock. It's probably too big to be included in the ROM though.

Wideawake 09-03-2006 04:40 PM

yikes just found out I could make one, but couldn't publicly make available (unless on a russian server) since I don't own legal redisturbution rights. :( I will continue to read up on it tho. :thumbleft:

bunnytrigger 09-03-2006 04:45 PM

yup, those US laws that are applied to most other countries are lame.

Big D5 09-03-2006 04:51 PM

Wideawake 09-04-2006 12:22 AM

yea I wanna a custom theme and haven't looked into making one. those will come in a latter release. not sure when this release itself will be completed. I haventstarted work on it yet. Still going background research and running this thread to get ideas. I think everyone for the input. (note the extended rom is small so I will do my best in getting what's really needed in there ;) )

Wideawake 09-20-2006 02:15 AM

Just to update everyone...after researching a lot, I have come to find out that the apache as of this moment is the only one that I cant create a ROM for. Or at least this is what I have read and well Im lookin into it but if the wizard can surely theres away. Anyway know. But Im still on it so if and when I can do this....I will do it. ;)

I really like WolfClock, with flexible alarms, chimes, music player, images and fonts, but it gave me problems on my stock Verizon XV6700 ROM (would not play music alarms) and on Helmi's WM6 Verizonguy Devel4. (won't play and won't store alarms. They just disappear when you close the menu.) I tried 3.0 and 3.1b4. Dang.

Anybody know how to fix WolfClock?, or I would like a cool free Clock/Alarm/Music-Alarm.

Sorry. Which one?

Wizzard 10-11-2007 11:02 PM

Is this going to be for the WM6 ROM? If so, no shareware please. It is a waste of space as some people don't use it and those who do can load their own.

OMJ 10-12-2007 07:19 AM

people....this thread is over a year old.....not for WM6! lol
