Need my apache to respond to ,*228,*22899
So I am running the R4 cooked rom and cannot get my phone to program. Can anyone give me some insight how I can either use a cab or regedit so the ,*228,*22899 works.
Thanks, Mikee |
are you using Verizon???? Those code I know are only for Verizon roaming and programing updates!!!

I believe he is since he has a XV6700.
Did you let the customization run? |
just because he is running an XV6700, does not mean those codes will run. They are specific to the vendor Verizon.
You do not want the VZW customizations to run on the device after you install a new ROM. Even if for some reason you did allow them to run, this would not hender the codes from running. Resolution would be to FLASH back to the orignal AKU 2.2 file, and then verifiy it is still working as purchased, and then reflash. If you have a problem after flashing back to the orignal ROM you should be able to take it to your cell provider, and troubleshoot from there. DO NOT take it to the provider with anything more then the orignal ROM, or you just voided your warranty and support with them! |

could be related to a custom phone dialer if you're running one. I had problems updating my PRL when using HTC dialer rather than the stock WM one.

*228 is not a pound code... it's a short code for Verizon--meaning it's an actual number that gets dialed and sent out over the tower (as opposed to # codes that get intercepted by the phone app and never go out over the air).
What happens when you try to dial *228 Talk? If you get a recorded error message write it down. Make sure you are not roaming and that you're in your home area. |
I would take a look at the list for your carrier in the following thread and make sure you have the necessary carrier specific cabs installed on your pda. I think this might be the solution. This is just my guess. I use sprint  .

There is a customization and OEM file for the EPRS # codes which will allow you to change programing features on your phone. Luv2Chil is right about the towers. This is how VZW updates their PRL files, and roaming features. So Bell, Alltel and Sprint may have their own ways of updating.
I have used quite a few ROMs from this site, and various customizations from everyone, and never had a problem with the *228/*22899 codes. Then again I am a verizon user, sadly to say! |
