is there a way to save or backup threaded sms conversations? I have PIM backup i believe but it doesnt back up my threaded messages

PIMBackup should save your SMS if you have your settings correct. As soon as I open the app the first screen has all the items that are to be backed up. In it is Messages. Is that checked on yours and if so and if it is not backing up, what threaded SMS are you using and what WM version?

Well I am running just the stock wm5, i might flash up to wm6 again depending on if i remember how to, and also if i can get these sms messages to back up. I am using PPCPIM Backup, with a program thats just called threaded SMS and it says by cody.

The file that stores the threaded SMS for that application is \Windows\PalmMsgV001
Copy that, after installing Threaded SMS but before opening it overwrite the one in the windows directory with the one that you copied.
