Need help: Making calls via BT when PDA is locked / password

Hello everyone,

I've been searching for a solution to this problem in other boards without success. I really hope PPCGeeks has the answer.

When I am driving, my device goes to standby mode and the backlight turns off. I have set my device to require a password as well for security/privacy reasons. Using my bluetooh headset, I attempt to do a voice dial (already programmed for the specific contacts) but I am not able to. The device turns on and I see the password screen. I cannot enter the password when driving. :( How can I make a phone call hands-free when driving?

I have downloaded/installed phoneAlarm hoping that with one of the profile settings I can do this. I am still waiting for a reply from PocketMax forums on how to do that if possible.

Thanks in advance!

What you could do is, if you have a charger in your car set the power setting to stay on when no external power. Turn the PPC on and plug it in to the charger and the PPC wont turn off this should alow you to make calls without the password causing a problem. Hope this helps 8)

Thanks, Big D5.

I wonder if this is how most people make calls when they are driving via BT headset.

You know, maybe it is the BT headset. When I bought the Motorola HS820, I was able to make phone calls via voice dial using the headset even if the phone was locked and off (standby) requiring password. I couldn't keep the Motorola because it slipped off my ear. I've got small ears. :-/ So I got the Plantronics 640. With this headset, it doesn't work that way. :(

I may need to get a car charger.

I wish I could help but I rarely use my headset and don't have it right now (at work) but will have it tomorrow and will look into it for ya. ;)

sorry I think I mixed two threads together and thought we solved this or maybe another member had the same problem. I also get the same thing when trying to dial with the password on. let me try out a few apps for locking and ill get back tonight! so sorry about that my friend. too many threads, I tend to forget things. :D

just to update I played around with it alittle and this is a slight fix that does indeed have drawbacks. You can set u lock settings to 0 mins and it will work, of course the drawback is when the backlight goes off, u will be putting in ur password again. hope this helps. :D

Edit: after playing with it more, it only works if u manually shut off, and it seems to only work this first time. Im not sure if there is a way around this, and I may report to MS to see if we can get a fix. This really needs to be.

I am following your advice, wideawake. :)

Also, for the record, I just want to say that PPCGeeks.com rocks! Wideawake is VERY helpful. No other board has helped me like this. I appreciate it!

Jess
