No reception on Verizon

I just purchased my first PDA phone, a xv6700, on ebay (so i wouldnt extend my contract) and as luck would have it I have no signal to very weak signal just after programming it through cust service. I normally have excellent service in my area. I tried updated the ROM with no changes. Cust service said to send it back to the seller. The seller was from North Carolina and seemed to be reputable; the phone itself is in excellent condition. Anyone have any suggestions?

What PRL is in your device? What Radio ROM version(1.10,1.27,1.41)? Also do you have just 1X or EV? As far as comparing between devices? What are you used to? And with reception each device has its own way of measuring and displaying signal strength...

When updating the ROM and completing a new flash, you always should dial *22899 and this will update your roaming and update your phones programming on the network. This should resolve any signal issues and this will also set your home calling area where ever you are currently at when you dial this code.

nemanracing,
My PRL id is 50855, PRL type is IS-683C ( not sure if this is what your looking for), my radio is 1.10. I usually get at least 3-4 bars in EV on my razor. The 6700 just keeps searching for service!! And the phones are lying right next to each other!

xholmezx78,
I have not dialed *22899 because I have not been able to get a strong enough signal. Gonna try it today on the road...

Thanks for your help...

also, if i purchased it through someone on ebay, can i take it into my verizon store for service? I do pay for insurance each month...just curious.

Radio and Signal issues.

Your first step is to update your radio to 1.41
I have Verizon and it works just fine.

Then follow the steps of dialing *22899.

Let the phone restart and then attempt to make a test call.

There is a 1.41 radio? I thought 1.27 was the latest.

Yeah, if you have the radio.nbf file, can you please post it.

You have the latest PRL version and even the older radio should work fine. If you are getting no service at all, it is starting to sound like a broken antenna issue. This was mentioned in another post about using the external antenna connection can cause the internal antenna to break! And if you aren't getting any service than that's what it sounds like. You can either try to attach an external antenna to see if you then get reception or just take it to Verizon...or talk to UTStarComm about getting it fixed.

The 1.41 radio is on the ppcgeeks ftp and it is linked in the 1.27 radio thread.
