What IS the big ordeal about getting WM6 on apache?

Im a little confused on the subject. Its forbidden to talk about wm6 roms for the apache here, yet it'll be okay to talk about it once its been released(if ever)??

How come we cant just use a wm6 rom from a similar closely related phone?
I suspect driver issues and proprietary stuff that only htc can implement is needed?

Seeing as they are starting to roll out wm6 for other phones according to the asia website, will they even pay any attention to the apache or is it gonna be left behind with wm5?

Has anyone contacted htc about this at all?

Well, from that I gathered from my talk with Helmi_c last week, the phone basically boots from nk.exe, which talks directly to the hardware. nk.exe is coded by htc for each model, and must contain specific driver information. The only nk.exe we have for the apache, is the one from wm5, and it will not see the wm6 core, and therefore will not boot wm6. So, thats why we dont have wm6 on our model. I'm sure someday it might happen, but it's not likely. Helmi_c basically said, unless we break into some 3 letter coproration's headquarters, it aint gonna happen... So, go buy a titan, or wait and live with the things we have now.

So, hate me if you must. I hate to be the one that finally will talk. Oh well.

Not sure what you mean. This has been discussed many times. Right now it does not work. If you think it is that easy to flash a rom from another device, go ahead and try.

there is talk over at sprint about a WM 6 update for the apache. however no body seems to know when this will happen. either they know or there not talking. so who the heck knows? but im still hoping to either get 6.0 or a Mogal witch ever comes first.

Then your decision is made - the Mogul is already out.

I'll bet $100 the 6700 never gets WM6 via Sprint. That's an easy bet - Sprint's last update for the 6700 was a minor AKU 2.2 update 8 months ago.

The only reason Sprint even has the 6700 as a current product (and, same price as Mogul) is to eliminate a whole bunch of newly "broken" 6700's being exchanged for Mogul's.

6700 is now $300 cheaper than the Mogul......

But through Sprint's SERO plan the Mogul is only like $288. And everyone can get on the SERO plan.

So only ~$190 difference.

If you throw SERO out of the equation, there are ebay sellers with the 6800 at $99 with a new contract.

Good day all. I was wondering what this SERO plan was. Hell, I'll get a mogul if I can pick one up for 288. I already have an account with sprint though.
